The Shield: Taking a look at the three members of WWE’s greatest faction

What makes these three men iconic?
What makes these three men iconic?

As one of the most influential, and arguably the most successful faction in the WWE, The Shield has managed to accomplish a lot in less than 7 years together. The trio has come across many factions, such as The New Day, Evolution, and the Dogs of War, and has still managed to come across each time.

While the trio has accomplished a lot in its time, there are always reasons which can keep wrestlers unhappy. This has resulted in Dean Ambrose deciding to leave the company and thus disbanding the team for good.

While the faction has disbanded a few times in the past, we could actually witness the final match involving The Shield in WWE which would definitely be an emotional moment for the fans.

Since all three members of the faction are extremely talented, famous, and successful, we’ve decided to evaluate their success and championship wins in the company. Let’s take a look at which member has had the most successful run the company prior to their last match.

#3 Roman Reigns

Total Championships: 7

Roman Reigns is back and seems better than ever!

For a lot of fans, Roman Reigns is the centrepiece of The Shield. As he has been the powerhouse of the group, it’s understandable why it seems as though the company favours him over the other two members of the faction.

Just like Dean Ambrose, Reigns never won any championships during his time in NXT. Instead, he got rewarded for his efforts on the main roster with a lot of individual push and success.

Overall, Reigns currently has seven championship reigns under his belt on the main roster. This includes the World Heavyweight Championships, one Universal Championship, one United States Championship, one Intercontinental Championship, and a tag team championship with Seth Rollins.

That isn’t all, as the superstar has also won the Royal Rumble in 2015, and was the main event at WrestleMania on a number of occasions.

Another one of Reigns accomplishment's includes ending The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak, which speaks volumes about his value to the company.

Most of Reigns’ success is as a solo wrestler with only one of his seven reigns with a title has been in tag team efforts.

With a move from Raw to SmackDown as part of the Superstars Shakeup 2019, we could see him become the WWE Champion sooner than later and lead the blue brand.

#2 Dean Ambrose

Total Championships: 7

Is this the end of the road for Dean Ambrose
Is this the end of the road for Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose has been the most diverse member of The Shield since its inception. While he was never seen as the most threatening member of the team when they started off, he has perhaps become the most lovable character out of the trio.

Ambrose improved significantly in a short time, and even built his physique much better in the past few years which helped him get to the top even as an individual.

Overall, Ambrose has one a single WWE Championship which was probably the highlight of his individual career. He also has a single United States Championship to his name, which he held for a record period, and three Intercontinental Championships.

Ambrose has also won two Raw Tag Team titles, with Seth Rollins being his partner on both occasions. However, it’s interesting to note that both his tag title wins with Rollins have come at a time when The Shield was not united.

With his decision to leave the company and move onto better opportunities, Ambrose may never become the Universal Champion in WWE.

#1 Seth Rollins

Total Championships: 11

The Chosen One?
The Chosen One?

With eleven championships around his waist, it’s clear who the most decorated superstar from The Shield is. He is also regarded as one of the best technical wrestlers in the company today, and that can easily justify his success in the company.

He was the brains and the backbone of The Shield, and therefore he’s known as The Architect.

As one of the most successful active wrestlers in the company today, Rollins made initial impacts by winning the NXT Gold Rush Tournament in 2012, and the NXT Championship, becoming the only Shield Member to do so.

Moving to the main roster has earned him at least ten more championships, and he has had the honour of becoming one of the few wrestlers to pin The Beast Brock Lesnar.

Seth has won the tag team championship on four occasions. Out of four, he’s won three tag championships with his brothers in the Shield, while he has won the championship once with Jason Jordan. Apart from that, he’s won the Intercontinental Championship twice, the United States Championship once, and the World Heavyweight Championship twice. To round things up, he has won the Universal Championship once by defeating Lesnar and is currently in his first reign with the title.

Seth has played both a heel and a face for the company extremely well and has, therefore, become one of the most loved superstars in the business today.

Even though he has accomplished a lot in the past and present, his most iconic moments will always be turning his back on The Shield and joining the Authority, and cashing in his Money in the Bank contract to win the championship at WrestleMania 31.
