Finn Balor was the first ever WWE Universal Champion. His reign was tragically cut short due to a shoulder injury suffered by a running Powerbomb into a barricade during the match that won him the title. Since returning from injury, he’s never received a proper challenge to regain the prize he never actually lost.
Brock Lesnar has to be aware that Balor has mentioned in recent promos that he's coming after the Universal Championship. To send the strongest message possible to his challenger, The Beast Incarnate should make a surprise run-in during this match to decimate The Demon King. If the interference happened after a ref bump, Bray could still score the big pinfall in a way that doesn’t hurt Finn.
Lesnar’s involvement in this match would also create a reason for Balor to give him a receipt during his upcoming Survivor Series match versus SmackDown’s top champion, Jinder Mahal. It’s probably not palatable for many wrestling fans to think of a situation in which Brock loses to Jinder, but Finn getting involved might be the least negative way of achieving that outcome.
