Top 5 heel moments of Stephanie McMahon

Stephanie McMahon

Stephanie McMahon is not a gifted actress or a wrestler per se, but she’s always been an interesting character.

As a heel character, she has always thrived. Be it her snobby, spoilt, rich girl antics or the blonde high headed authority figure appearances in 2005 – she was hated! Now, after almost 8 years, she is back to heel-dom.

Her pretentious behavior with Big Show and Daniel Bryan in recent weeks was also very well done. But they don’t necessarily compare to the solid A+ performances done by her in the past. Here’s a list of the blasts from her past.

5. Stephanie McMahon first Promo after returning in 2005

I don’t know if it’s my internet connection or Stephanie’s performance which really made that segment seem so fast paced. She made the whole act seem effortless, and that’s why she is more believable as a heel.

She returned a week before this appearance, but was stunned by Stone Cold after she slapped him. Her speech is no epitome to woman power, and it is still filled with patriarchal notions (like the glorification of having balls), but she drowned the ‘what’ chants. She’s furious, and her trademark slaps do the trick of instigating the crowd against her.

4. Stephanie McMahon turns heel

The first and the original! The aforementioned action begins in the 40th minute. She went from being a void character to one of the hated female characters in the company.

Triple H and Stephanie were the new power couple. That alliance led to her having segments with Jericho, Stone Cold, Rock, Kurt Angle etc. and mostly all of them pulled off their finishing moves on Stephanie.

Her annoying and intervening presence, no doubt, elevated the drama. Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley was here to stay.

3. All her interactions with Jericho

This week’s RAW had a funny moment. When Stephanie was walking back on the ramp after insulting Big Show, some fans started chanting for “Y2J”.

That’s just plain symbolic to all her interactions with Jericho. This particular segment is only one of the many where Stephanie gets a rabid unfavourable reaction from the audience. The way she imitates Jericho here is impeccable.

2. Old habits die hard

Here she is, visibly pregnant and trying to gain an understanding ground with Shawn Michaels.

For a moment, just for a tiny, split-second moment you believe her, that she’s just there to help. Bat an eye and there she is – a heel all the way.

1. McMahon slaps McMahon

The actual video was way more effective than this edited version. And this is not the only time she’s slapped her mother.

I believe, from a distant corner of my memory, that there was one backstage segment where Shane, Stephanie and Linda were all entangled in a fight.

Stephanie slapped Linda again, and Shane defended his mom. It was a tumultuous McMahon family drama. This instills Stephanie’s character of a spoilt brat.
