Triple H to punish 21-year veteran at SummerSlam due to recent controversial behavior? Exploring the possibility

WWE SummerSlam 2024 is just a week away. One of the biggest matches on the show will be Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk. The two men will finally get their hands on each other after being embroiled in a heated rivalry throughout the year.

It is possible that WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H books CM Punk to squash Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam to punish The Scottish Warrior for recently sparking controversy by sharing a photo with Jack Perry on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

A recent report revealed that McIntyre hasn't received any backstage heat for his actions and he has been working closely with Punk on their feud. However, his deleting the photo with Perry later on could be an indication that his post may have rubbed some people the wrong way. Therefore, Triple H could book him to suffer an embarrassing loss at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

If it does happen, it will not be the first time Triple H embarrasses McIntyre this year. The Game already booked him to lose the World Heavyweight Championship a few minutes after he won it at WrestleMania XL. Two months later, McIntyre failed to regain the title in his home country at the Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event.

Triple H also booked McIntyre to fail his Money in the Bank cash-in this month. Although all of these moments were a part of the storyline, Triple H could silently punish The Scottish Warrior at SummerSlam and fans would see it as another one of his failures against Punk.

Seth Rollins, who will be the Special Guest Referee for the match, could help Punk get a quick win. Even though he is at odds with both men, he probably despises McIntyre more because he is the only heel among the three of them.

The Visionary causing a controversial finish to the match at SummerSlam would also help WWE justify his involvement in the feud between McIntyre and Punk, if the Stamford-based promotion plans to have a Triple-Threat match in the future.

Drew McIntyre took another shot at CM Punk ahead of SummerSlam

Drew McIntyre has stepped up his social media game as a heel. The former World Heavyweight Champion has been trying his best to spark controversy online ahead of his clash with CM Punk at SummerSlam.

Before he shared a photo with Jack Perry, The Scottish Warrior took a shot at Punk by making a reference to Colt Cabana, another person The Best in the World is on bad terms with.

Here is what he tweeted:

“I ain’t ever had to put another man’s name on a shirt to sell it” Aging as well as “hey Colt Cabana how you doing?"

The rivalry between Punk and McIntyre will probably continue even after SummerSlam, so fans can expect to see them collide again at Bash in Berlin or Bad Blood.
