WWE News: Current champion teases facing Triple H in his return match

Will The Lone Wolf and The Game go head to a head?
Will The Lone Wolf and The Game go head to a head?

What's the story?

The King of Kings has been absent from WWE TV for quite some time, disappearing after his defeat at Wrestlemania 33.

However, after announcing his in-ring return on Twitter, it seems we have a clue as to who the Game will be taking on in Santiago.

In case you didn't know...

The Executive VP of Talent Relations has been gone from our TV screens since April 2nd, where he was beaten by Seth Rollins after almost a nine-month feud, starting back in August 2016 when he cost the Architect the Universal Championship.

Since Mania, Triple H has been handling business behind the scenes. The Cerebral Assassin has been busy working on signing more talents to the NXT brand (most recently the addition of ROH's Lio Rush), along with the production of this summer's May Young Classic.

It was only recently revealed, via Triple H's twitter account, that he was making a return to the ring.

The heart of the matter

The new United States Champion made sure to check the 14-time champion's feet at the door today, possibly foreshadowing an upcoming fight between the two. Corbin is known to run his mouth quite a lot, but it's something totally different to back it up in the ring with Triple H.

What's next?

The Game will return to action in Chile on Smackdown's tour which also includes the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, and even the United States Champion Baron Corbin. It's quite possible that the Lone Wolf might have to back up his words this Sunday, as the Game isn't known for backing down from a challenge.

Author's take

Baron Corbin is the perfect opponent for Triple H to return against, in my opinion. Corbin is a guy who is currently rising back up the ranks after his tumble down the ladder this summer when he failed to cash in his MITB contract.

Now, after winning the US Title in a triple threat between he, AJ Styles and Tye Dillinger, and then beating AJ Styles again on the next episode of Smackdown Live, the Lone Wolf is riding high. Taking on the Game in his in-ring return is a great honour for anyone, especially someone like Corbin, who just recently was considered to be in the hot seat.
