WWE Payback pay-per-view originated in 2013 as it replaced its predecessor No Way Out. A set of highly anticipated battles were scheduled for the night but no match was greater than the feud between Chris Jericho and a Returning CM Punk.
The two ego-bounded superstars engaged in a duel which would determine who deserves to carry ‘The Best in the World’ tag. CM Punk returned to a massive response in Illinois after taking a hiatus from the business. It was an even contest between the two wrestlers where both had their fair share of phases throughout the match. In the end CM Punk defeated Jericho after hitting him with two GTS.
This year, however, WWE will miss both the superstars as Jericho will be touring with his band Fozzy instead of getting his payback on CM Punk, who has shown no signs of return.
