Best for Business? 5 shocking similarities between Vince McMahon and Triple H

Amerta

A person of power ascends to a top position where he can command people and enforce his will on the entire WWE universe. They’ll have an army (wearing suits or just their boxers) surrounding them at all times, protecting them from the ones that dare to go up against the ‘Boss’.

Love them or hate them; you can’t escape their wrath. They have the power to make you do what they want.

Yes, we’re referring to what happened in 1999 with Mr. McMahon’s Corporation.

And yes, it can be argued that it’s happening again now with Triple H and The Authority, and the comparisons are skin-deep.

Not only has Triple H slid into The Chairman’s old role quite comfortably, but he has also duplicated McMahon’s recruiting tactics.

Is Triple H the new Mr. McMahon?

Most definitely seems like it! They both wear slick suits, have that undeniable authority over the WWE and pick a feud with the top star.

The Chairman himself has largely left Triple H to his own devices, and The Game’s free reign has paid off in terms of visibility, word-of-mouth among the WWE Universe and championship gold.

The only difference here is – Vince had a feud with only one – ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.

While Triple H picks a fight with anyone who dares to cross paths with him – CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Big Show and many more.

Not that these increasing feuds have affected The Game even slightly.

Vince’s Shane = Triple H’s Stephanie

Just as Vince McMahon had Shane McMahon by his side at all times, Triple H now has Stephanie McMahon as his consigliere.

While The Boy Wonder wasn’t as feared as his father, The Billion Dollar Princess has cemented her position by her husband’s side, making her once of the most feared (hated?) personalities in the WWE.

Call her Triple H’s ‘partner-in-crime’ or anything, Stephanie has most certainly inherited her father’s style of work and his Machiavellian ferocity. Remember how she humiliated Big Show in front of everyone and fired him?

Compared with his sister, The Boy Wonder could be, all things considered, a relatively nice guy compared to his old man. Stephanie suffers fools less than Mr. McMahon ever did, if such a thing is even possible.

Randy Orton is the new Triple H

Triple H’s reign was at it’s peak during Vince’s era, and we can almost see the same happening with Randy Orton.

However, while Triple H didn’t get his championship handed on a platter to him; Orton being propelled to the top was almost preordained.

Not only was The Viper among the COO’s handpicked Padawans during the Evolution days, but he brings a third-generation lineage that fits in perfectly with The Authority’s M.O. of selecting homegrown talent as its chosen representatives.

If Orton’s brutal treatment of his benefactor’s enemies is any indication, Triple H chose as wisely as Mr. McMahon did.

Ken Shamrock, Test & The Big Boss Man = The Shield

There’s always been one group doing dirty work for their ‘Boss’ without any fear or opposition.

The McMahons had Ken Shamrock, Test & The Big Boss Man clearing up (if I may say) trash for them, The Authority has The Shield making mince meat out of wrestlers in and outside the ring.

Given that The Game has already amassed more rivals in a few months than The Chairman did during his entire reign, it’s only fitting he tripled down on his muscle and recruited WWE’s most brutal newcomers when filling out his ranks.

There was the Vince-era Kane, and there’s the Triple H-era Kane

Hidden behind a grizzly mask, or suited up; Kane manages to amass fear no matter what avatar he dons.

He could be toeing the line as the McMahons’ corporate champion in 1998 or enforcing the COO’s will as WWE Director of Operations in 2013.

No matter what he’s doing or what his appearance is, there’s only one Kane.

And if there’s a corporate takeover going down in WWE, he will be recruited to help make it happen.
