Alberto Del Rio was suspended for a Wellness Policy violation

WWE Superstar Jose Rodriguez, popularly known as Alberto Del Rio, was suspended on 17th August with the suspension effective from the next day on account of his violation of the WWE’s Wellness Policy.

The interesting thing here to notice is that Del Rio’s suspension is starting the day after it has been announced.

Del Rio alongside Zeb Colter returned to the WWE at the Hell in a Cell PPV answering John Cena’s open challenge. Del Rio was supposed to be given a massive push upon his return, but his entire “Mex-America” angle with Zeb Colter failed, and then later he was made a part of the League of Nations which didn’t really go anywhere either.

Since then Del Rio has been nothing more than a filler wrestler.

Now Del Rio’s current contract has an out-clause after one year, and considering the fact that Del Rio signed mid-September, the dates to the end of his contract are pretty much upon us.

Del Rio has the option to go back to AAA, but AAA is in pretty rough shape financially, and there is uncertainty as to how people in Lucha Underground will receive him back. It is believed that he has offers from Combate Americas’ Campbell McLaren, who’s been Del Rio’s friend since a long time, and wants him to be the face of his brand.

He had given a T.V. Announcer’s deal, and also at one time wanted Del Rio to be their star fighter, before he signed with WWE. It was also reported that Del Rio and Paige, who’re dating each other, went to a Combate America event without notifying the WWE with Del Rio also seen actively promoting the event.

Superstars always needs to inform the WWE before going to any events or doing any business deals etc.

Del Rio reportedly has offers from TNA on the table, but no word has been out from Lucha Underground or AAA.

Now Del Rio can make good money, have more control over schedule, and will probably be pushed as the main guy, but he’s probably not going to make as much as he’s earning in the WWE.

So, if things boil down to how much he’s going to earn outside the WWE, then maybe he won’t leave and re-sign with the company. Speaking of re-signing, Del Rio was supposed to be given a massive push after being drafted to Smackdown Live! but the push was blocked by Triple H because it wasn’t sure whether he would re-sign with WWE once his contract got over.

So, what do you think? Do you think Del Rio should stay in the WWE? Or would you like to see Del Rio again in the indies or other promotions like Ring of Honor? Please tell us your thoughts by writing them in the comments below.
