Mick Foley introduced the 24/7 championship on the last episode of RAW, killing the hype around the segment prior to the unveiling. The WWE Universe in attendance booed the championship, and the fact that the title changed hands thrice on the same night has even confused the fans about the future of the title.

Titus O' Neil emerged as the first-ever 24/7 Champion but he lost the title in mere seconds to Robert Roode. Roode held the belt for a while before SmackDown Live's R-Truth pinned him to take the title to the blue brand.

This championship is going to be the least prestigious championship in WWE history because it does not even make a difference who is the champion. Nobody is going to have a title reign which would exceed a week, hence, it can be said that Vince McMahon has found just another way of trolling his fans.

Nevertheless, the 24/7 championship is here to stay and the title will definitely be defended on tonight's episode of SmackDown Live. R-Truth is a babyface superstar so we can expect a heel on the 'B' show to become the next champion.

Looking at the options available on the roster, we have Aleister Black, Aiden English, Andrade, Bo Dallas, Buddy Murphy, Chad Gable, Elias, Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, Shelton Benjamin, and Sheamus. The top contenders for the 24/7 title amongst the names mentioned can be English, Murphy, Elias, Mahal, and Benjamin.

While it would be refreshing to see someone like Benjamin win the title, it would be disappointing if WWE gives away the championship to a more deserving superstar like Buddy Murphy.

The best choice would always be Elias. He needs to bounce back after his 10 seconds defeat to Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank. With Shane McMahon being announced as Roman's next opponent, it is unlikely Elias will return to the Roman Reigns picture.

Hence, it would be great if Elias wins the title from Truth and gets more TV time. He has the mic skills to entertain the fans, and he is someone who can elevate the title. A win on SmackDown will see Elias returning to RAW next week as well, which may allow WWE to book a 15-20 minute segment featuring the Guitarist.
