Where does Cena go from here?
After being pinned thrice by AJ Styles, Cena will likely feud with AJ once he returns from his brief hiatus. However, there are rumblings about WWE planning a Cena - Undertaker encounter at WrestleMania 33, giving Cena the perfect platform to turn heel.
We’ve seen in the past how effective heel turns can be if done right - especially with mega babyfaces such as Hogan. Cena now has the creative freedom to do what he, and WWE have been hesitant about doing, and go back to either his rapper gimmick or tweak his existing gimmick.
It isn’t improbable for John to have one final run with the title, equalling Flair’s record in the process. Now is the perfect time for the company and Cena himself to refine his character, and do what the majority of the audience has been asking of him for years - become the best bad guy in the company.
