Will Roman Reigns overcome 29 other men to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Roman Reigns defends his Championship in Royal Rumble

2016 is going to be the biggest Year for both WWE and Roman Reigns. History will be made in three weeks at the sold-out Amway Center in Florida, When Roman Reigns defends his WWE championship in the Royal Rumble PPV.

This is the second time, that the WWE championship will be on the line in a Royal Rumble match. That's because the Chairman announced, not only would Reigns be defending his title at the pay-per-view (PPV), but he'll be doing it against 29 other men in the over-the-top-rope elimination battle royal.

The former Shield powerhouse needs to overcome many odds to retain his championship. There are currently nine other men in the match including his old foe Bray Wyatt and his family.

The other 20 members are to be shortlisted in the coming weeks. No doubt, that Reigns will be the first entrant, at the Amway center, needs to overcome many challenges to defend the Crown.

Until last week, Reigns is the betting favourite to win the title, to go on and defend the title at Wrestlemania 32. But after the chairman’s announcement, it seems unlikely that Reigns will be holding his title after the Royal Rumble PPV.

The company had worked for a year to get him over with the crowd, and they’ve finally achieved their goal. WWE might be hoping to increase Reigns’ popularity by having him overcome even more odds, and a No.1 contender’s match at Fastlane would determine his WrestleMania 32 opponent.

No doubt that the favourable result will be on the cards, depending on the participants in the elimination battle Royal. There are rumours that Brock Lesnar will be a likely participant in the PPV. The Beast is set to return on the Jan. 11 edition of “Raw,” likely announcing that he’s entering his name in the Royal Rumble match.

If Paul Heyman confirms that Lesnar will be at the Amway Center, then there is no doubt that both Lesnar and Reigns will be battling each other to reach the glory. If Lesnar is in the battle royal, it’s hard to imagine anyone throwing him over the top rope.

That could set up a rematch with Reigns at WrestleMania 32.

Suppose if Lesnar is not in the battle royal, it is inevitable that Triple H and Reigns will have a match. The Game will be the likely 30th entrant and go on to win the WWE World heavy Weight Championship by eliminating the Roman Empire, who brutally destroyed him at the TLC PPV.

The COO hasn’t been on WWE TV since TLC, and there’s a good chance he’ll be looking for his vengeance in the Royal Rumble match.

If we take Triple H out of the equation, then John Cena is the likely favourite to win the title along with Reigns. Cena hasn’t been in the main events in Wrestlemania for two years After facing up-and-comers in Bray Wyat and Rusev.

The Company’s top star has been fighting for his elusive 16th title, and Royal Rumble could be the stage to achieve the crown. If Cena wins the title, then Reigns will be competing against Cena at Wrestlemania 32 to get the championship back.

If the Company believes that Reigns is an untouchable force in WWE at present, then no doubt that Reigns can eliminate the likes of Brock Lesnar and John Cena to reach the stage of excellence in 2016.
