WrestleMania 32 Rumors: Tag titles not on the line between New Day, League of Nations?

A good bit has changed since the New Day and League of Nations worked together.

It seems the tag team titles might not be on the line after all at WrestleMania 32, according to a rumor posted on Cageside Seats.

No further details were given, but there is some evidence to support the claim that goes beyond the usual unnamed backstage sources that are so often cited in these cases. For one, the WrestleMania 32 portion of the WWE website does not mention the tag team titles as a part of the match between New Day, the tag team champions, and the League of Nations. Every other championship match is designated as such. For instance, an overline of “United States Title Match” accompanies the section for the matchup between U.S. Champion Kalisto and Ryback.

The segment for the bout between New Day and League of Nations has an overline of “Battle for Tag Team Supremacy,” and the associated preview article does not mention the tag team titles being defended. Also of note, there is also no indication the WrestleMania match will be 4-on-3, although all seven men are pictured on the graphic. That leaves room for speculation that someone, perhaps Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, could get involved to help the champs.

Another interesting note is that a previous tweet from the @WrestleMania account, referenced in March 17 article by Wrestling Inc., declared the tag titles would be defended in the match but since appears to have been taken down.

The decision to not defend the titles would be an interesting one given the circumstances. Not only would it be the first time since WrestleMania 27 that the tag titles weren’t defended on the show, but it would also come the day after New Day is set to induct the Fabulous Freebirds into the WWE Hall of Fame. Since the New Day commonly defends the titles under “Freebird Rules,” allowing all three members to defend the belts at various times, all three men defending them at the same time at the “Showcase of the Immortals” might be a fitting tribute.

Here is how the current WrestleMania 32 match card looks like:
