WrestleMania 35: 4 reasons why WWE should not host 17 matches

Is it going to be longest WWE pay-per-view?
Is it going to be longest WWE pay-per-view?

WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year, WrestleMania is going to happen in a few weeks. The event is going to happen in Metlife Stadium, and the match card is jam-packed.

Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair are going to main event the show which will create history. A few days ago, a rumour revealed that Vince McMahon wants to book 17 matches for this pay-per-view. The most probable reason to do this is that WWE wants to feature almost every Superstar to the show. This way, everyone can become a part of this pay-per-view which is a good thing.

However, hosting this many matches is still not easy. There are many reasons why WWE should not do this. And, in this article, we will look at such few reasons.

#4 It’s just too much

Do you think WrestleMania should host 17 matches?
Do you think WrestleMania should host 17 matches?

If you are a huge WWE fan, then you know how hard it is to watch their weekly shows and pay-per-view without getting exhausted. Even if the show is providing great matches, it still isn't an easy task to enjoy every bit of it.

Somewhere between the show, we will start getting tired because doing the same thing continuously especially for a long time, is more like a challenge.

WrestleMania 35 expected to be 8 hours long, and that’s without including the kickoff show. Last year’s ‘Mania was a little over 5 hours long with 2 hours extra for the Kickoff show.

For some of us, sitting for 8 hours long is like doing a full-time job. Fans will watch WrestleMania for fun, and I don’t think it’s fair to make them feel like they are doing a job.

With that being said, let me know if you can really enjoy this show without getting exhausted?

#3 Not every Superstars needs to be featured at the show

Quantity over quality isn't a good thing
Quantity over quality isn't a good thing

As per the rumour I discussed in the introduction, Vince wants to feature as many Superstars as possible at WrestleMania because of employee morale. After the arrival of AEW, everyone's eyes are on them. Fans are expecting this new promotion to compete with WWE at a stricter level.

AEW has already signed many former WWE Superstars which is why they should be taken seriously. Many wrestlers are unhappy with WWE, and some of them have already asked for their release.

However, it doesn’t mean that everyone should be featured at the pay-per-view. I believe that most of you will agree with me when I say that WWE should focus more on quality than quantity.

The more matches they book, the higher our expectations will be. And, it is possible that this ‘quantity over quality’ thing will hurt WrestleMania’s image.

#2 It’s not a fair deal

WWE Network
WWE Network

It’s obvious that if WrestleMania features 17 matches, then the length of the show will also be high. If you have a WWE Network subscription, then I don’t think you care how long WWE’s shows will be. After all, you can just watch their shows anytime anywhere.

However, not all of us have a WWE Network subscription. Let’s just talk about fans who have plans to watch the pay-per-view at their home, in television. I have already mentioned how tiring it will be to watch the whole pay-per-view but this time I am trying to cover the topic with a different angle.

With their network subscription, we can watch shows anytime. But, what about those who don’t have access to the network? What will they do?

They must watch the entire pay-per-view in one go or wait for it to be televised again. However, it is almost impossible to enjoy things when fans from all around the world will start spoiling the results after the show ends. Also, I don’t think anyone would want to wait a day to watch the full pay-per-view.

#1 They can make it a 2-day pay per view

Just like NJPW, WWE could also make WrestleMania a 2-day show if they really want to feature 17 (or more) matches. The first day, they can display kickoff and some of the high-profile matches whereas the following day, only main matches will be shown.

This way an 8-hour show will become a 4-hour show which, I think, wouldn’t be a problem for WWE fans. Fans can easily digest this fact that with this approach, there will be no spoilers regarding the actual match results. However, even if the company decides to do things this way, then some fans will accuse them of copying NJPW’s style.

I don’t know if this is going to be an actual problem or not as that’s unpredictable. However, in my opinion, a majority of us would never mind if the company makes WrestleMania a 2-day show.
