WrestleMania 35: Predicting the outcome of each championship match

Who will walk out of Metlife Stadium as the champion?
Who will walk out of Metlife Stadium as the champion?

Less than ten days remain to the biggest wrestling event of the year, and we are overexcited thanks to the most interesting and well-built WrestleMania card we have seen since the past few years.

One of the many things that we are excited to watch is the first ever women’s main event for this year’s event, along with Kofi Kingston’s first-ever one-on-one opportunity to win a top title in the company.

A total of thirteen matches have been announced so far, with the Women’s Battle Royal and the two Men’s Tag Team matches remaining unannounced so far.

Out of the thirteen announced matches, seven will be fought for the gold in WWE’s treasure chest.

With that in mind, we will look at the championship matches announced so far, and predict the winner of each match for the April 7 event.

#1 WWE Cruiserweight Championship - Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Tony Nese

A high-flying thriller is on the way
A high-flying thriller is on the way

With a loaded match card, it is highly possible that we will witness the clash between Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese on the pre-show of the event. Even with that possibility, we have no reason to doubt that this will be among the top five matches of the night.

The elites at 205 Live have given us some of the best matches at pay-per-views, and Buddy Murphy is indeed the superstar who won’t disappoint us.

Tony Nese will also want to showcase his talent at the Show of Shows, and we will see a long and high-flying affair which will probably see Murphy retain the championship.

Since Murphy is doing a great job leading the 205 Live roster, WWE would want to continue his reign as champion until another wrestler can match his level.

Prediction: Buddy Murphy will retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship

#2 WWE Women's Tag Team Championships - Sasha & Bayley (c) vs. The IIconics vs. Nia Jax &Tamina vs. Beth Phoenix & Natalya

The odds are against the champions
The odds are against the champions

WWE confirmed this Fatal Four-way match, and we will see the inaugural winners of the championship Sasha and Bayley put the title on the line against SmackDown’s Iconics, Raw’s Samoan Slaughterhouse, and the returning Beth Phoenix with Natalya.

As the inaugural winners of the titles, you would expect that WWE will give the fan-favourite team a longer run with the title before preparing someone else to take over the reins.

With that said, the competition looks tough for the champions, as The IIconics are fast rising, while Beth Phoenix & Natalya could score a return victory.

With the chances being equal for all the four teams involved, it’s possible that WWE will let Sasha and Bayley retain the championships and go on to defend it on SmackDown and NXT before losing the titles.

Prediction: Sasha & Bayley will retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships

#3 United States Championship - Samoa Joe (c) vs. Rey Mysterio

A battle between two unique superstars
A battle between two unique superstars

With very little story and background, we now have Rey Mysterio squaring off against Samoa Joe for the United States Championship. Before Joe won the championship, it was freefalling in value but Joe’s win has helped make the championship’s value increase again.

Rey Mysterio’s return to WWE has been great, but he has been more of a mid-card player giving pushes to the newer talent rather than a formidable challenger.

In terms of the match quality, this one has the potential to be a gem and provide great entertainment in the mid-card.

While Joe had been put under many times but the company, it seems like they are ready to give him a chance now and see how bright he can shine before he gets a top title in the company.

Therefore, Joe will retain the championship and continue his feud with Rey Mysterio for the title post-WrestleMania to build himself into a real force.

Prediction: Samoa Joe will retain the United States Championship

#4 Intercontinental Championship - Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Finn Balor

The REAL David vs. Goliath affair
The REAL David vs. Goliath affair

The battle between these two men has slowly been becoming stale as they have gone at it many times. Lashley has proved to be dominant more often than not, while Balor’s undying will has kept him alive in the race for the championship.

While Balor did win the championship from Lashley after pinning Lio Rush, it was surprising to see him lose the title to Lashley again a few weeks later and then getting another shot at the title for WrestleMania.

While Lio Rush will surely get involved in the match somehow, we can expect Finn Balor to score a clean victory over Lashley to regain the gold as a babyface and end this rivalry. Balor deserves a reward for all the work he has put in over the past year, and this could be his biggest moment in WWE.

Prediction: Finn Balor will win the Intercontinental Championship

#5 WWE Championship - Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kofi Kingston

The veterans will battle it out of the blue brand's reins
The veterans will battle it out of the blue brand's reins

What started as a replacement job for Kofi Kingston in the absence of Mustafa Ali has turned into a dream run for the superstar.

It took him a lot to get here, but he is finally here and will get his first ever one-on-one WWE Championship match, that too at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

While the road to WrestleMania has not been smooth for the veteran, the dream run could prove to be even more difficult. Daniel Bryan’s heel turn and transitioning into The New Daniel Bryan took some work, and he is finally the most ‘hated’ superstar in the locker room.

After all that build, it’s unlikely that WWE will let that all go to waste and let Kofi Kingston become the real People’s Champion.

The match could prove to be the best of the night as two of the best stars WWE has ever seen will go head to head in the ring. However, the outcome will probably not be what the WWE Universe has been looking for.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan will retain the WWE Championship

#6 Universal Championship - Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins

Will The Architect burn down Suplex City?
Will The Architect burn down Suplex City?

There has been a lot Seth Rollins has had to do and go through since his Royal Rumble victory. He has been engaged in some interesting feuds and has seen the return of his friend Roman Reigns and The Sheild reuniting for one night only.

On the other hand, Brock Lesnar has gotten time to Eat, Sleep, Repeat since he hasn’t been in any matches since the Royal Rumble.

This would have given The Beast more time to focus and prepare for The Architect, but one must remember that Rollins is the hardest worker in the company.

Seth Rollins is the ready-made Champion that WWE has always looked for, and it could be his time to prove to the WWE Universe what a real fighting Universal Champion looks like. WWE tried to deliver the same through Roman Reigns last year, but Rollins could prove to be the man this time around.

Keeping the top scene of Raw in mind, it feels like the right time for some shakeups to take place before the ratings drop too low. Hence, Rollins is the clear pick in this match.

Prediction: Seth Rollins will win the Universal Championship

#7 Raw Women's Championship - Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair

The main event we've all been waiting for
The main event we've all been waiting for

Are you ready for this match, because we sure want it to begin but never be over!

Ronda Rousey will defend her Raw Women’s Championship against the top two women of SmackDown Live Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. Becky was the Women’s Royal Rumble winner, while Charlotte just got her spot.

What makes things more interesting is that Charlotte was crowned the SmackDown Women’s Champion just twelve days before the event, which could shake up the stipulations of the match.

While all three women are highly talented, its The Man’s time to shine. If WWE wants the event to be successful then they will have to give the fans exactly what they want.

Becky Lynch winning the title at this point in her career will help her grow into one of WWE’s premier superstars, while Ronda will get a break which she has been looking for.

Prediction: Becky Lynch will win the Raw Women’s Championship
