WWE Superstars who could be a part of Paul Heyman's new Dangerous Alliance

Pro Wrestling is always better when there is a big heel faction for babyfaces to overcome. It worked with the Four Horsemen, the NWO, Evolution and the Shield before they turned face.

One of the most heralded factions of the early 1990s in WCW was Paul Heyman's Dangerous Alliance.

The faction consisted of Rick Rude, Arn Anderson, Bobby Eaton, Steve Austin, Madusa and Larry Zbyszko.

One of it's most famous wars was against a group headed up by WCW's ultimate babyface, Sting.

Sting led a group consisting of a young Dustin Rhodes (Goldust), Barry Windham, Nikita Koloff and Ricky 'the Dragon' Steamboat.

Sting's Squadron defeated roup against Paul Heyman's heel faction the Dangerous Alliance in 1992.

The factions competed in a WarGames match in 1992 at WCW's Wrestle War PPV.

Since NXT Takeover: WarGames 2 takes place this weekend, I figured that Raw or Smackdown could use a main-event heel faction to run rampant over the show.

The Undisputed Era is currently doing so in NXT, but Raw or Smackdown desperately needs a multi-player heel faction.

The following wrestlers would be perfect if Paul Heyman was to ever lead a new version of his Dangerous Alliance.

Cesaro

'The Swiss Superman' should reform his partnership with Heyman.
'The Swiss Superman' should reform his partnership with Heyman.

Cesaro is someone who could flourish once again under Heyman's guidance.

He's been successful as a tag team wrestler with both Tyson Kidd and Sheamus, but he's so much better and the fans know it.

He needs to return to being a mid-card to upper card heel.

He'll still probably always be cheered due to his feats of athleticism but he could be having great singles matches again with the likes of Daniel Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio and Andrade Almas.

Sure the Bar has done well for itself, but its shelf life is coming to an end. They can only battle the New Day and the Usos so many times before it becomes too stagnant.

The best move for Cesaro is to split up with Sheamus so that he could be a singles star again. He would be perfect for a new Dangerous Alliance as the skilled singles technician.

He wouldn't have to talk for himself. Just let Heyman spin his tales regarding what Cesaro can do. Cesaro could easily do the rest.

Apollo Crews

Apollo Crews would be a perfect fit in the Dangerous Alliance.
Apollo Crews would be a perfect fit in the Dangerous Alliance.

Crews is someone with all the talent in the world but no direction currently.

He wows everyone week in and week out with his feats of athleticism, but he's only really once received a push. He challenged the Miz for the Intercontinental Championship at a past Summerslam but ultimately lost to the A-Lister.

His whole gimmick is practically uber-talented guy who smiles. Finn Balor already has that nailed down, so Crews needs a change.

His run in Titus Worldwide had some entertaining moments, but no one took them too seriously as threats.

He isn't awful on the mic, but it certainly isn't his strong suit.

For that reason alone, Paul Heyman would be a perfect mentor/mouthpiece for Crews if a new version of the Dangerous Alliance was formed.

They could say that Crews has been overlooked for too long and that Heyman is the man to bring him to the top. His track record with CM Punk, Lesnar and RVD speaks for itself, as long as he doesn't get turned into another Ryback or Curtis Axel.

He could talk up his athleticism and looks and let the in-ring move speak for themselves. Crews wouldn't have to talk and WWE could finally build up another young mid-card stud.

He hasn't yet been a heel yet, and that just might be what he needs to get to the next level.

Once he does, they can test him out with a mid-card title run at first. If that's successful, he could be tried out as a main-event challenger for a face champion at some point.

His talent is currently going to waste on Raw as he barely makes the show weekly. He's so much better than jobber to the stars or 'guy who occasionally gets win over Jinder Mahal'.

The Revival

The Revival has often been overlooked as threats since joining the main roster.
The Revival has often been overlooked as threats since joining the main roster.

The Revival just seem perfect as a fit in a faction like a Dangerous Alliance.

They are technical heels and are throwbacks to when the art of tag wrestling meant a little more than it does today.

Original alliance members Bobby Eaton and Arn Anderson did have a run together as tag champions, defeating Dustin Rhodes and Ricky Steamboat.

The Revival are more reminiscent of Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard, but regardless of faction, Anderson and whomever were great heels. So are the Revival.

Their whole 'Top Guys' gimmick is also perfectly suited for a faction of condescending heels, but like other options on this list, they can more than back it up in the ring.

They wouldn't need Heyman as a mouthpiece, but just the fact that they would have other factions backing them up would make them much more dangerous.

When the Four Horsemen and Evolution were at their peaks, they had their hands in practically every title race.

It made every match they were in all the more important. Whomever took the belts for them was given a rub and that is something a lot of the younger wrestlers coming up from NXT could use from time to time.

Like Apollo and Cesaro, both are in need of a reboot and being members of a dominant faction would be a good way to do it.

They would likely get a bigger push if Triple H had even more influence. His NXT talents have mostly been hit or miss since joining the main roster, but if/when he takes over, they will hopefully be booked closer to how they were on the yellow brand.

The Revival basically ruled the NXT tag division for a while but so much has been done to forget that.

Once January comes and we know who are and aren't some of the new signees, maybe the tag divisions on both shows can be refocused and rejuvenated.

Bobby Roode

Roode would be better suited as a heel like he was during his NXT run.
Roode would be better suited as a heel like he was during his NXT run.

Like the Revival, Roode is such a great heel when he is allowed to be.

He was great as a face when he debuted on the main roster from NXT, but his entire run in NXT was great because of his work as a heel.

He was condescending and was obviously modeled after the 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair. Flair wasn't a part of the alliance because he was in WWF at the time, but he was the central figure of the Four Horsemen when they were at their height.

A Roode heel turn just seems like it's bound to happen at any time. It might happen at Survivor Series or it might happen in the Royal Rumble.

Gable just seems too naive for their partnership to last that long. And Roode, like Crews, the Revival and Cesaro, also needs a reboot.

Turning heel would help jump start that and he could be the cocky main-event heel a la Triple H in Evolution and Flair.

He might be considered a little too old for that role, but he's still in great shape and a heel turn and joining of a faction would be great for everyone involved.

The original Dangerous Alliance had 'the Living Legend' Larry Zybysko and he was the typical overconfident, technical heel. He came out in robes and even came out to 'Simply the Best'.

That's heel personified.

The robes that Roode wears just seem better suited for a heel and he's always portrayed someone who is accustomed to the finer things in life (not the finest like Kona Reeves) in both NXT and TNA.

His heel runs in TNA were great and he was parts of the Team Canada and Fortune factions. He just seems better when he's heeling it up with another group of threatening, technical heels.

Ronda Rousey

Ronda would be a perfect fit in a heel faction with Paul Heyman.
Ronda would be a perfect fit in a heel faction with Paul Heyman.

She's mainly been a face since joining the WWE, but after too long, Ronda's going to likely have to turn heel.

The inevitable Horsewoman showdown might be the impetus for that, but one way or another, she needs a heel turn. She's only semi-believable as a face.

She can't battle Stephanie McMahon forever, and if she feuds with the likes of fan favorites like Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch, she will likely won't be cheered.

The fans are already cheering for Becky Lynch in their feud and will do so again when/if they battle at Wrestlemania 35.

You can't tell the fans what to cheer for. Ask Roman before his announcement.

If she were to change to the dark side of things, and she does so as alone and without her friends, she should immediately be paired with Heyman.

Ronda has already been working with Paul backstage. He's helped with her promos, delivery and timing.

We also cannot discount one of the most glaring similarities between she and Brock Lesnar. Both were butt kicking former MMA fighters who were at once on top of the UFC mountain.

They both made the transition to the WWE and have continued the physical dominance. Both also don't necessarily need to speak as Heyman can spin enough tales on the mic for both.

Heyman is at his best when you can't really discount his words. When he was telling you how great Curtis Axel and Ryback were, it was hard to believe. Spitting fire about Ronda's dominance is already believable.

Ronda could be seen as the focal point of the group. It would be something new and that hasn't been done all that much in WWE history.

Madusa was a part of the original alliance but it was more in a valet capacity.

Chyna and Stephanie McMahon both were parts of heel factions at one point, but this would be totally different. It could also be another step in the 'Women's Evolution.'

Who else would be perfect for a new version of Paul Heyman's Dangerous Alliance?

What makes Sting special? His first AEW opponent opens up RIGHT HERE.
