Sting has always been considered one of the best Wrestlers ever to have graced the ring. From his days at WCW to his present histrionics with TNA, he has manged to always be a cut above the rest. Here, we take a look at some of his best ever matches from his heydays in WCW

No.5 – Sting Vs William Regal at The Great American Bash 1996This match was a proper wrestling match with many near falls occurring as it went on. Sting and Regal who then went by the moniker of Lord Steven Regal, put on a damn good show.

No.4 – Sting Vs Cactus Jack False Count Anywhere at Beach Blast 1992

Cactus Jack

Sting went one on one with the hardcore legend in a match that really lived up to its name as most of the action took place outside the confines of the ring. Cactus, one of Mick Foley’s three alter-egos, took the stinger to his limits and then went beyond them in one of the best matches from the early part of his career.

No. 3 – Sting Vs Bret Hart at WCW Mayhem 1999

With the WCW on its last legs, Sting was their main attraction. After being stripped of his World Heavyweight title, he made it to the semi-finals of the 32 man tournament for the title where he faced off against ‘The Excellence of Execution’ Bret Hart.

No. 2 – Sting Vs Hollywood Hulk Hogan with Bret Hart as Special guest referee at WCW Starrcade 1997

NWO hogan

The match that proved to be the beginning of the end for NWO at WCW, saw Sting, who now sported his famous black and white face paint and had been using his baseball bat to soften up the NWO, as he took on Hogan – considered as a traitor by the fans – at Starrcade for the World Heavyweight Championship.

No.1 Sting Vs Ric Flair at WCW Clash of the Champions XXVII ‘94

Flair

The Stinger took on ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair in a bid to unite the WCW heavyweight titles. What followed was a proper classic and unlike their clash at the original Clash of the Champions, a winner was declared this time.
