WWE 205 Live Results: January 2nd, 2018

What a
What a way to start a new year

It's time for the first 205 Live of 2018 where the highlights from the Cruiserweight Division on the previous night during Raw was Goldust coming down to assist Cedric Alexander to defeat the Zo Train instead of a Cruiserweight Championship match.

Enzo Amore is still not medically cleared to return, therefore 205 Live would be missing a champion.

But only time will tell what will happen when some of the hardest working guys in WWE turn it up to 11 for another edition of 205 Live coming from Orlando Florida.

Akira Tozawa vs TJP

<p>

TJP was returning from injury and it was great to see him back although the crowd might not have noticed that it's been three months since we last saw the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

TJP fought Tozawa toe-to-toe until Akira Tozawa hit TJP with a right hand that dropped him. Tozawa hit a kick and a senton, but TJP nailed him with a kick when Tozawa went for a suicide dive to the outside.

TJP latched on a half surfboard and then laid down a vicious drop onto Tozawa's shoulder. TJP was striving to show that he hadn't lost a step during his time away from the ring.

"We want Neville" chants broke out as the two fought on. The match concluded after TJP used some heel tactics to gain an advantage and hit the Detonation Kick for the pinfall.

Cedric Alexander and Goldust were backstage when Cedric reminded Goldust he was over 205 pounds and Goldust seemed a bit shocked and then he admitted he realized this.

Goldust told Alexander to picture himself as a rising star and he's there to help him on his quest for gold. They're a team now, like Tango and Cash or Turner and Hooch. Cedric Alexander reminded Goldust that Hooch was a dog (although he didn't mention how spoiler: Hooch dies at the end of the movie). Goldust said, "yeah, you're my dog!" and the two walked off.

Gentleman Jack Gallagher vs Hideo Itami

Did the International Sensation pick up the win?

Gallagher said Hideo Itami isn't on 205 Live to compete but to maim and disfigure instead then they played the clip of Itami breaking The Brian Kendrick's face on Christmas Day.

Gentleman Jack Gallagher really took the heel part of his character to the extreme when he grabbed his umbrella and whacked Itami with it before the bell even rang.

A metal pipe came out of the umbrella and Jack Gallagher laid in some shots to Itami before taking off.

Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari vs Cedric Alexander and Goldust

Goldust made it to 205 Live this week

It was announced that Cedric Alexander will get his shot at the Cruiserweight Title leading one to assume Enzo Amore won't be dropping the title before then to end any of that speculation.

Cedric Alexander and Daivari fought to start this match and they used some quick offence and chain wrestling to get things going. Then "we want Goldust" chants broke out as Alexander tagged out to The Bizarre One.

Drew Gulak got the tag to work with Goldust and the former IC Champion played some mind games with Gulk for a bit before he tagged his partner. Goldust played opossum as if he was exhausted but came back with one of his classic taunts in Daivari's face.

Cedric Alexander got the tag and started taking it to the Zo Train in a big way but he soon took a topple off the top rope when he was pushed off by Daivari.

The heels isolated Alexander as they continued the pressure on the #1 contender. But Cedric Alexander would eventually make a tag to Goldust who laid both of his opponents out before climbing to the top rope and deciding against a high-risk move just to jump down and hit his signature uppercut.

Cedric Alexander made the tag and soon both heels were on the floor on the outside. Alexander went for a flipping dive over Goldust on both Gulak and Daivari taking them both out.

Then Cedric Alexander hit the Lumbar Check on Drew Gulak and scored the win.
