Stratus revealed that her contract was up for renewal at the beginning of 2006 and the WWE Hall of Famer decided that it was time to hang up her boots because her mother was battling cancer at the time and she wanted to be there for her, which was impossible if she was on the road 300 days a year.
Vince McMahon asked the former seven-time Women's Champion if she would hang around for a few months so that she could be written off TV properly which then led to the build-up to what was a fantastic final bow for a woman who had defined women's professional wrestling for more than six years.
