Is WWE really planning Edge versus Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37?

WWE had Edge win the 2021 Men's Royal Rumble on Sunday. While Edge hasn't decided on who his opponent will be at WrestleMania, some believe the stars are aligned for a huge showdown with Roman Reigns.

Of course, nothing is locked in as of yet, but it really does seem like the company wants to go in the aforementioned direction.

In all honesty, WWE is making Edge seem like the quintessential underdog. The promotion may use this tactic to create a feeling that winning at WrestleMania is his destiny. After all, Edge won the Royal Rumble from the No. #1 position and did so after being shelved for months with an injury. He even defeated his longtime rival, Randy Orton, to win and punch his ticket to WrestleMania 37.

If nothing else, WWE may have wanted Edge to overcome these odds to help solidify the character as a babyface, only for Reigns to eventually shatter his dreams. Now, all the company needs to do is have Edge challenge Roman Reigns, and go from there. That seems like one of the few possible ways forward for Edge and makes the most sense based on current rumors.
