5 Superstars who could be Cruiserweight Champion if the title is brought back

Kalisto

A successor to Rey Mysterio?

Kalisto could be the prototype Cruiserweight champion. He is small, he is fast and he makes the crowd jump out of their seats. Kalisto to an extent is the closest thing that WWE has to Rey Mysterio and if put to proper use, he could go on to become better than Rey.

So far, he has been booked in the tag team division where his individual brilliance is limited. This scenario would turn upside down if he becomes the Cruiserweight champion. Kalisto is marketable in the merchandise area as well which would serve as an add-on advantage for Vince McMahon who is still trying to find a replacement for Rey.

Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston can be a heel champion

Kofi might be busy holding the Tag Team Championship right now but he could be a credible Cruiserweight champion as well. Letting Kofi win the Cruiserweight title will allow Xavier Woods to get some action as Tag Team Champion instead of just being an unused piece in the whole ‘New Day’ Package.

The backing from New Day will morph Kofi into a heel champion worth defeating. If WWE wants Kofi in the tag team division for the longer run, they could always let Xavier Woods take the title so that both the championships stay around the New Day, making the stable look extra strong.

Adrian Neville

The Brit that has it all

Is he worthy of winning the Intercontinental championship? Yes. Is he worthy of winning the United States Championship? Yes. Is He Worthy of Winning the Cruiserweight championship? A big yes.

Although being in the Cruiserweight division would be a big drop for the Brit, it could help him on the longer run. At present, the only thing that makes him a hit with the fans is his in ring flashiness. Take that away, Neville doesn’t have a character or backstory to show. Being a champion might help him bypass this problem as he will get more time to develop his character in the Cruiserweight division unlike elsewhere.

Once Neville sets him apart from the rest, he could simply jump back into the mid-card scenario.
