WWE/AEW Rumors: Chris Jericho wants to wrestle Brock Lesnar in AEW

What's the story?

It looks like Chris Jericho may be looking for a match with Brock Lesnar, possibly in All Elite Wrestling. As we noted earlier, Jericho sent a number of Tweets aimed at Brock Lesnar earlier this week which said:

"Intimidation and fear goes a LONG way in our business guys. But let’s be honest, @BrockLesnar needs to pull up his pants and lose the gut... the dream is over dude. I don’t play by the script... @wwe @AEWrestling"

In case you didn't know...

Chris Jericho officially signed with All Elite Wrestling in January 2019 and later revealed that it was the biggest contract of his career. Jericho had an incredible 2018 in New Japan Pro Wrestling and will continue wrestling for both New Japan and AEW going forward.

Brock Lesnar is the current WWE Universal Champion and recently beat Finn Balor at the WWE Royal Rumble. It looks like Lesnar will be defending the WWE Universal Championship against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35.

The heart of the matter

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer had more to say about Jericho's tweet. Meltzer said that similar to his tweets aimed at Kenny Omega in 2017, this could be Jericho angling for a match with Brock Lesnar. Meltzer did add that it was very unlikely that Vince would let Lesnar leave said:

“I believe that Vince will pay anything not to lose Brock because we’ve seen it with UFC and I think it will be even stronger with AEW. Brock’s number is so high but who knows? Who knows, it would be a coup. Put it this way, Chris Jericho wants a match with Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho has a lot of sway. That doesn’t mean a deal is gonna be done that’s a stupid deal but who knows.” H/T: WrestlingNewsCo

What's next?

Even if Chris Jericho does want a match with Brock Lesnar, it's pretty unlikely that WWE would let it happen. The closest Lesnar will come to leaving WWE will probably using AEW as leverage for a bigger contract.
