AJ Lee should be inducted into 2016 Hall of Fame

The Black Widow

AJ Lee is arguably one of the most popular divas to ever step foot in the ring. In her 6-year run with the company she became a 3-time Divas champion and won the Diva of the Year Slammy twice.

She was voted Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Woman of the year for an unprecedented three consecutive years (2012–2014). Yet, as all good things come to an end, her tenure with WWE also ended last year after Wrestlemania 31.

AJ Lee played a crucial role in the upliftment of the divas division. She was not one of those stereotype performers. She was rebellious, outspoken and talented. Her illustrious career saw her performing many roles ranging from Daniel Bryan’s love interest to RAW’s general manager (a role she played with perfection). She was always more or less engaged in high profile feuds.

She was the epitome of modern women’s wrestling, which had not seen golden days after women like Lita and Trish Stratus left the business. Her exceptional in-ring work along with her excellent mic skills helped her pave the way to the top of the Divas division.

She never backed down from speaking her mind and did the same on Twitter when she called out Stephanie Mcmahon for the ill treatment of the main roster divas. Even Vince Mcmahon acknowledged her comment and what many believe was one of the reasons for the inception of Divas revolution.

Her friendship and subsequent feud with Kaitlyn was one of the highlights of her career. Not to mention her pipebomb skills matched only by her husband CM Punk.

With all that she accomplished in her career in WWE, it seems fitting to induct her into the Hall of Fame class of 2016. But that is easier said than done.

A possibility that could stop WWE management from inducting her could be her husband CM Punk. It is well known to everyone that Punk and WWE do not see eye to eye after the former shocked the world with his abrupt exit.

His further appearance on the ‘Art Of Wrestling’ podcast added fuel to the fire. His incendiary remarks directed towards WWE were the highlights of that interview. The revelations made by Punk earned WWE a lot of backlash from many fans and became the talk of the town.

But WWE’s issues with Punk should not deny AJ Lee the honour that she so rightly deserves. Her unparalleled career is incomplete without her induction into the hall of fame. She has contributed so much to this business that WWE cannot possibly choose to ignore this issue. Otherwise this would become a huge mistake on their part and will give fans another reason to criticize the product.

Personally, I would love to see Paige or Stephanie Mcmahon induct her but feel free to add your choices in the comment section.
