What’s the story?

Renowned Professional Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer recently had a very interesting exchange on Twitter with a fan, who seemingly asked him regarding a possible move to the WWE for former Impact Wrestling Champion Eli Drake.

Drake, who has been reportedly interested in a move to the WWE in the past, apparently seems to be still in the radar for the Sports Entertainment Company, as per claimed by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer.

In case you didn’t know…

Despite having performed for the WWE as an enhancement talent in the past, Drake seemingly made a name for himself in the Pro Wrestling business as part of the Impact Wrestling roster, where he has been competing since the year 2015.

Drake, who is currently in his fourth year with Impact Wrestling, has already achieved numerous accomplishments with the company having won the Impact World Title, the Impact Tag Team Titles, and the TNA King of the Mountain Championship as well.

The heart of the matter

On Thursday morning, Twitter user Bob Carnell decided to bring up an interesting topic on the social media when he asked The Observer’s Meltzer if there is any truth to the apparent rumor of former Impact Wrestling World Champion Drake coming to the WWE anytime in the near future.

As per Meltzer, he quickly responded to the question via his official Twitter handle by claiming to the fact that the WWE management is indeed interested in bringing in Drake to the company, once his Impact Wrestling contract expires—which apparently is set to expire very soon.

Additionally, Drake himself recently opened up about his current status with Impact Wrestling in an interview with The Mirror, as the former Impact World Champion claimed that he likes to keep all his options open and his definitely thankful to Impact Wrestling for giving him such an amazing opportunity on the big stage.

What’s next?

Drake is currently slated to challenge Pentagon Jr. for the Impact Wrestling World Champion and on the other hand, it’ll also be interesting to note if there is indeed any sort of truth to the rumors of Drake jumping ship to the WWE.

Author’s Take

Drake, in my opinion, is one of the finest workers in the business today and his addition to the NXT roster will definitely grab a lot of attention and will prove to be a huge draw for the company as an overall.
