Paige has been the center of media attention in the wrestling world along with her boyfriend Alberto Del Rio. Since their relationship became public, both fell down the card or were barely featured on television. Last month, both Paige and Del Rio faced suspensions for failing the Wellness Policy within 24 hours of each other. The timing struck many as odd. Recent rumors were swirling that Paige had hired legal council to find a loophole in her contract so that she could be released from WWE. Her contract expires in 2019. However, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated that this is not the case just yet. Apparently, Paige is in a similar situation that AJ Lee was the final year of her WWE run. However, it is now being reported by PWInsider that Paige will be returning to the road next week. PWInsider also reported that despite previous reports, Paige and WWE are still very much in communication. Paige is in fact booked for next week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, and also the subsequent Raw events. Paige’s suspension officially ends on 17th September. It will be interesting to see her role upon her return. It has been such a whirlwind of a year for Paige. It definitely wasn’t the best year in her career. But given how unhappy WWE officials have reportedly been with her, it is definitely curious to see how things play out for her, as WWE has a habit of punishing stars who they are unhappy with. Despite this, Paige is undeniably a huge talent, not to mention she has so many years ahead of her. She would be one of the key parts of the Raw women’s division, which is now more centered around Charlotte, Sasha Banks,Bayley and Dana Brooke. Nia Jax is as well, but she is kept separately from the rest of the women. Given that Smackdown Live has been utilizing their female roster(which was considered the shallower of the two) and giving all of them equal opportunities, it is time for Raw to step up its game in their female division. Paige still has a tremendous amount to offer to the company, and if they keep her happy, she may decide to stay there long-term as well. One thing is for sure, and that is that she is an extremely valuable asset to the company if utilized correctly.
