WWE Clash of Champions 2019: 3 startling moments we could witness at the PPV

After the success of SummerSlam, WWE has managed to set up a few interesting storylines for Clash of Champions.

The Clash of Champions event will host 10 championship matches from the two main brands & the cruiserweight division and will make this year’s event the most eventful one in its history.

With tensions rising between the RAW Tag Team Champions, who will first defend their tag titles before going head to head later in the night for the Universal Championship, things are sure to get ugly during the night.

The event will also host two women’s matches comprising of the Four Horsewomen of WWE, and could well prove to be a great night for the women too as the Women’s Tag Team Championships will also be defended on the night.

What we are looking forward to are a few surprises and startling moments from the night which could set the WWE Universe alight. In this article, we will look at 3 startling moments which could happen during the show and make a huge difference to the storylines that follow.

#1 Cedric Alexander pulls off a heist

Cedric Alexander has a great chance of shooting to the top

From being overlooked on RAW after moving to the main roster, Cedric Alexander finds himself at the top of the food chain as he’s now part of the biggest rivalry of his entire WWE career.

Alexander started as part of the 16 men who competed for the King of the Ring tournament but was knocked out by Baron Corbin in the quarterfinals after suffering a vicious attack by AJ Styles and The OC backstage.

After meeting Styles in a non-title match on RAW last week, which ended in a disqualification, Alexander pinned Styles at the end of the night in a ten-man tag team match.

Now he has the chance to take away AJ Styles' United States Championship from him and exact revenge from him at the same time.

While Styles and Alexander are no strangers to each other in the ring, it would really be a big surprise for fans if he manages to defeat Styles for the title so early in his main roster career and into the rivalry.

While we expect this feud to go on for a few weeks, and know that Alexander is a real threat to Styles, the Champion will still be walking into the event as the favorite to win the match.

#2 Return of Harper

Erick Rowan could reunite with his former partner Luke Harper

After weeks of build-up, WWE has finally revealed Erick Rowan as Roman Reigns’ attacker. Rowan sent a wave across WWE Universe by not only attacking Roman Reigns a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown Live but by also taking out his partner Daniel Bryan. While fans were expecting Bryan to be the mastermind behind the attacks on Reigns, it seems like Erick Rowan will be going into Clash of Champions as a solo destroyer who is after Reigns and his career.

WWE could make things much more interesting by surprising the fans and injecting Rowan’s former partner Luke Harper into the mix at Sunday’s event. WWE has made the match for Sunday a no-disqualification match, and this could allow interruptions without the match ending in a disqualification.

The Bludgeon Brothers, which consisted of Rowan and Harper, were dominating during their short time together, and bringing them back could help WWE elevate Rowan and the entire Tag Team division.

#3 Sasha Banks gets some outside help to win the Championship

Sasha Banks and Tamina have worked together in the past

Sasha Banks returned to RAW after SummerSlam and literally shook up the entire women’s division. She’s immediately shot to the top and has challenged the RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch to a match for the event.

While this can be termed as Becky Lynch’s biggest threat yet, one must remember that Lynch has improved drastically over the past year. The match between Banks and Lynch will surely be a memorable one.

Since WWE is invested in portraying Banks as such a big heel, they shouldn’t stop short here and allow Banks to win the RAW Women’s Championship, that too with the help of an outsider.

While fans are expecting Ronda Rousey to make an appearance and cost Lynch the match, WWE can startle the Universe by letting Tamina cause the interruption.

It was recently reported that Tamina is healthy once again and will return to active competition, and with Bayley and Banks playing big heels, they could get the help of Tamina to watch their backs and do all the dirty work.

Pairing Tamina with Banks, and maybe even Bayley, could prove to be a good move as WWE focuses on building strong heel characters on both the main brands. Tamina has worked as a henchwoman in the past too and could play the role perfectly once again.
