WWE Clash of Champions 2019: 5 stats every fan needs to know heading into the event

History can be made this weekend in North Carolina

Clash of Champions 2019 takes over The Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sunday night and boasts the first pay-per-view of 2019 where every main roster WWE Championship will be on the line.

Now that Roman Reigns vs Erick Rowan has been made into a No Disqualification match, every match on the card is a gimmick match with 11 matches currently official for the show. Although, the King of the Ring finals have seemingly been moved to the following night on Monday Night RAW instead with no explanation given by the company.

Statistics in WWE are everything to many Superstars, which is why many of them will be looking forward to this weekend's show since history could be made and equaled in several matches on the night.

#5 Women's Tag Team Championships will be defended on pay-per-view for the first time since WrestleMania

The Women's Tag Team Championships were first introduced to WWE back at Elimination Chamber, which means that there isn't much history surrounding the first incarnation of Tag Team Championships for the women.

That being said, the titles were defended on the main show at WrestleMania, when they changed hands from The Boss 'n' Hug Connection to The IIconics. The belts were then not defended at Money in the Bank, Stomping Grounds or Extreme Rules but were then relegated to the kickoff show at SummerSlam where Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross were able to successfully retain their Championships against The IIconics.

This weekend there is a chance that the women could be on the main show since Cross and Bliss once again defend their Championships but this time it's against SmackDown Live duo Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, who are also known as Fire and Desire.

#4 Sasha Banks could become a five-time RAW Women's Champion

Sasha Banks takes on Becky Lynch this Sunday night after weeks of stalking the RAW Women's Champion and attacking her with a steel chair. Lynch and Banks have history since the two women make up half of the original NXT Four Horsewomen, but times have definitely changed since the two women were considered friends.

Banks is currently a four-time RAW Women's Champion, something that she shares with Charlotte Flair, but this weekend she could make history by becoming the first five-time RAW Women's Champion in WWE history if she's able to overcome The Man.

Lynch has reigned her division for the past few months, ever since she was the first woman to defeat Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania and become a dual champion.

Lynch has already managed to defeat all comers over the past few months, including Lacey Evans, Charlotte, and Natalya, but Banks has been missing for the last four months following WrestleMania and comes back well-rested which could give her the upper hand over Lynch, who's been part of almost everything that WWE has pushed in the Women's Division over the past few months.

#3 Braun Strowman could win his first singles Championship in WWE

Will Braun Strowman win his first singles Championship this weekend?

It's hard to believe that The Monster Among Men is still yet to win a singles Championship, even though he's been part of the main event picture in WWE for a number of years. Braun Strowman was victorious in the first-ever 50-man Battle Royal at the Greatest Royal Rumble last year and the company awarded him a green Championship that hasn't been seen since.

He has also been a Tag Team Champion twice since he lifted the titles for the first time back at WrestleMania last year when he found a 10-year-old called Nicholas in the crowd and was able to defeat Cesaro and Sheamus on his own. Strowman and Seth Rollins won the RAW Tag Team Championships a few weeks ago to give Strowman his second Championship reign, but he still awaits a singles title.

This weekend Rollins and Strowman defend their Tag Team Championships before The Monster Among Men will challenge for the Universal Championship later in the night against his own partner and could become the biggest Champion in the short history of the title.

#2 The Miz could equal Chris Jericho's record

Will The Miz equal Chris Jericho's record at Clash of Champions?

The Miz takes on Shinsuke Nakamura this weekend at Clash of Champions with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. The Miz has quite a history with this title since he's already an eight-time Champion so if he's able to defeat The Artist this weekend then he will equal Chris Jericho's long-standing record by becoming a nine-time Champion.

WWE has a history of trying to wipe out records of stars who have walked away from the company much like when Nikki Bella ended AJ Lee's record with the Divas Championship before the title was retired.

Jericho is currently the first AEW World Champion and has become a viral sensation ever since his win back at All Out, so it's likely that The Miz wiping out his record won't actually bother him that much. But it will give The Miz something to do on WWE TV since he's been floating around for weeks waiting for a reason to put on his gear again.

The Miz as a face has been a strange experiment from WWE, but a win this weekend would prove that WWE has seen it as a successful switch.

#1 Randy Orton could equal Triple H's for World title reigns

Will Randy Orton equal Triple H's record this weekend?
Will Randy Orton equal Triple H's record this weekend?

Randy Orton takes on Kofi Kingston this weekend at Clash of Champions knowing that a win would make him a 14-time World Champion. Orton is a legend in his own right but he was unable to walk out as Champion following their original match at SummerSlam and Kingston looks to have only stepped up his game in the past month.

Ric Flair and John Cena hold the record as 16-time World Champions whilst Triple H is next on that list as a 14-time World Champion. This means that Orton will finally no longer be third on the list if he can defeat Kingston this weekend because he will be in joint second place alongside WWE COO Triple H.

Orton has been working less and less over the past few years and is seen as the underdog heading into this weekend's match since Kingston has completely dominated the SmackDown Live brand since WrestleMania. This is WWE, remember and stranger things have happened so there's always a chance that Orton could walk out of North Carolina as Champion on Sunday night.
