WWE Clash of Champions: 5 Possible finishes for Randy Orton vs Kofi Kingston

Will the Apex Predator strike back?
Will the Apex Predator strike back?

Throughout history, countless WWE Superstarshave dedicated their heart and soul to narrate iconic storylines. While some manage to get the crowd’s attention, the others were buried deep in our memory.

However, we rarely see WWE rivalries that unfold over a decade. Visiting the old chapters and unfolding a rivalry that was scripted in a fading ink brought Randy Orton face to face with WWE Champion, Kofi Kingston.

It was revealed that Kofi Kingston was set for a push ten years ago. However, a botched spot in his match against Randy Orton at Madison Square Garden in 2009 irked The Viper. If the backstage rumors are to believe, it was Orton who curbed Kofi’s push back then.

Ten years later, Kofi defeated Daniel Bryan to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35. He was riding high on his new found success, taking on one opponent after another before he bumped into The Viper.

Orton believes that it was him who was responsible behind the Kofimania. He is now adamant to prove that Kofi does not deserve the title. Will Kofi prove him wrong and put an end to this decade-old feud?

Here are the five possible finishes for the WWE Championship match between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton at Clash of Champions.

#5 Kofi retains the WWE Championship

Who's stupid now?
Who's stupid now?

Kofi Kingston has proved time and again that he is worthy of holding the prestigious title. Despite several obstacles laid on his path, Kofi kept fighting relentlessly. After all, it takes a lot to get the entire WWE Universe to cheer for you against one of the best wrestlers in the world.

Now that he is set to take on one of his oldest rivals in WWE, Kofi would not like to settle for anything but a victory tonight. He clearly remembers everything that happened to him a decade ago and would want to prove Orton wrong, once and for all.

On last week’s SmackDown Live, Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston recreated the iconic spot from the MSG match in 2009. Randy Orton stood amidst the crowd and called out Kofi for being an undeserving champion. Following that, Kofi put the Apex Predator through the table in a similar fashion as he did ten years ago.

If Kofi goes on to win the match against Orton, it will put this feud to rest with him earning a veteran’s interest.

#4 Randy Orton wins clean

Look out for the three most destructive letters in Sports Entertainment -- RKO!
Look out for the three most destructive letters in Sports Entertainment -- RKO!

Randy Orton is one of the very few WWE Superstars who can narrate intense in-ring stories with ease. He knows when to pull his punches and make a feud personal. He can outsmart his opponent within seconds and slay them with the three most destructive words in all of sports entertainment –R.K.O.!

Kofi is a deserving champion but that does not rule out the possibility that Orton will pick a win tonight. He has been away from the title picture for far too long and this might be the best time for him to make his return.

Additionally, if Orton wins the WWE Championship, he might go on to feud with the likes of Daniel Bryan or Roman Reigns in the coming months. As one of the biggest WWE Superstars on the main roster today, Orton can immediately elevate the title to a higher altar.

Randy Orton may be the heel in this tory but he will always be the charismatic Superstar who can turn millions in his favor within a span of few seconds. He might use his lethal weapon to win the WWE Championship for the tenth time.

#3 Kofi retains via disqualification

Enemy of an enemy is a friend
Enemy of an enemy is a friend

Kofi Kingston was never alone in his walk as the WWE Champion. His New Day brothers Big E and Xavier Woods have been by his side ever since the three came together. But he is not the only one who has allies by his side.

Randy Orton found new friends in The Revival when Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder went on to assist the Viper in manhandling Kofi two weeks ago. They helped Orton in the brutal beatdown of Kofi who was left helpless in the middle of the ring.

Interestingly, the Revival will challenge the New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team titles at Clash of Champions. If Revival lose their match, they might end up being on the ringside to help Orton take down his opponent. That will force the New Day to be by the ring in case anyone has dishonest intentions.

But considering their previous encounter either of the two teams can snap. Hence, an interference by The Revival and The New Day may lead to a brawl which could end the match in disqualification. That will help Kofi retain the title without pinning Randy Orton.

#2 Kofi uses Randy Orton’s arrogance against him

Can Kofi Kingston make this happen?
Can Kofi Kingston make this happen?

As one of the best WWE Superstars today, Randy Orton is fairly arrogant. His accolades in the promotion speak volumes about the caliber that he possesses. It is not easy to match his in-ring skills and complement his narrating style that can evoke emotions you never feel in day to day life.

But his fight tonight is not against any other rival. It is someone who feels that an opportunity was taken away from him because The Viper did not believe in him. With things being so personal for Kofi Kingston, he might seek every opportunity he has to prove himself.

His RKOs may arguably be the most destructive finisher of all time, but Kofi knows how to turn the most complex situations in his favor. He may find a way out of The Viper’s finisher and use it to his advantage. Moreover, that need not be a fair move as long as the official doesn’t see.

The biggest benefit of this move will be Kofi’s portrayal as a smart babyface. His title run has lost some of its hype recently. Thus, he can win everyone’s attention back with one spot that will take both Orton and the WWE Universe by surprise.

#1 Randy Orton uses the oldest trick in the book

You are never safe around The Viper
You are never safe around The Viper

Let’s say both New Day and The Revival are engaged in a brawl, but they are outside the ring. If that happens, WWE officials can’t call off the match since the action is technically not jeopardizing the match.

Knowing Kofi, he would like to take out everyone with a high-flying move. But this might prove to be detrimental for the champion. If he is distracted by those who are outside the ring instead of focusing on his opponent, the latter won’t waste a single moment before capitalizing.

Let’s say Kofi’s attention is diverted towards the action taking place outside the ring, allowing enough time for Randy Orton to plan his masterstroke. The Viper can even seek the help of The Revival to purposely create a situation which keeps Kofi’s eyes away from him. He will wait for Kofi to turn towards him and deliver an RKO within a heartbeat.

Frankly, Randy Orton will do whatever it takes to win tonight and prove to the world that he was right about Kofi all along. And there is nothing that could make this match better than an RKO outta nowhere. This is my favourite possible finish for this match. It's been long since The Viper had the gold wrapped around his waist.
