WWE Elimination Chamber 2021: Five things we learned

Elimination Chamber was an eventual pay-per-view

#4 An opportunity for a women's Elimination Chamber match was missed

In contrast to last year's Elimination Chamber, where the women main evented the pay-per-view, there was only one women's division match this year. Elimination Chamber was a short pay-per-view, lasting less than three hours - a shorter running time than Monday Night RAW.

Adding a women's Elimination Chamber match to the card would have been a great way to elevate the women's division on the road to WrestleMania. At the moment, there are two number one contenders to the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships that haven't yet had their opportunity. There are also multiple women on the roster who aren't able to show their full potential currently.

In recent years, the women of WWE have shone at Elimination Chamber. In 2018, fans saw Alexa Bliss retain the RAW Women's Championship in the first ever women's match in the famous structure. A great moment was created when the star cut a vicious promo on the WWE Universe following her win.

As well as this, the inuagural WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks and Bayley were crowned at the 2019 edition of the pay-per-view Plus, in the headline match of Elimination Chamber 2020, Shayna Baszler was built as a force to be reckoned with as she earned a shot at Becky Lynch's RAW Women's Championship at WrestleMania 36.

If more star-making moments for the women of WWE are to come, they need to be given the opportunity to achieve this at pay-per-view events like Elimination Chamber with matches of their own.
