The main event of Extreme Rules 2021 could see Roman Reigns defend his Universal Championship against Finn Balor. The seeds of the same were sown on this week's episode of SmackDown as Balor interrupted Reigns' in-ring segment.

As of the writing of this article, Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor for the Universal title is set for the upcoming episode of SmackDown. However, we might see a false finish, leading to a rematch at the pay-per-view. This could be made an "Extreme Rules" match, letting the two use all sorts of weapons against each other in what could be a great match.

Now, many were expecting Brock Lesnar, who made his return at SummerSlam, to be Roman Reigns' next challenger. While WWE has started the build to it, the match will likely take place at a bigger stage like Crown Jewel or Survivor Series.

As for Extreme Rules 2021, Reigns would be the favorite to retain his title. We might even see a post-match attack from The Beast Incarnate on the Universal Champion.
