It has been ten years since the first Hell in a Cell pay-per-view
The first-ever Hell in a Cell match took place more than two decades ago between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, but the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view became an annual affair back in 2009 when the company decided to make it their October event.

The first show back in 2009 pitted The Undertaker up against CM Punk inside the structure with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. Randy Orton and John Cena also stepped into the steel later in the night as they battled for the WWE Championship. The final match inside the Hell in a Cell structure saw D-Generation X take on Legacy.
It's interesting to note that out of every active performer on the card that night, there isn't a single Superstar that will be reprising their role this year. Out of the 23 stars that were part of the 2009 Hell in a Cell event there are just eight superstars who still work for WWE on a full-time basis. It's incredible to see how much the company has changed in ten years.
