What’s the story?

So, with WWE gradually revealing the teams for their upcoming WWE Mixed Match Challenge over the past two weeks, we know that more could be announced at any time.

A recent post on social media may have just confirmed the next two top stars to be paired together - and they've reacted!

In case you didn’t know…

WWE is hosting the Mixed Match Challenge live on Facebook Watch, with male and female Superstars being paired together to face off in tag team action for a cash prize to be donated to their dedicated charity.

So far, the teams confirmed are Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax and Apollo Crews, Naomi and Jimmy Uso, Lana and Rusev, Finn Balor and Sasha Banks, Bobby Roode and Charlotte, and the ever-present rumour of Goldust and Asuka being paired up, but there are a handful of Superstars not yet partnered - but with the competition beginning in just over a week, it seems we'll have to find out sooner rather than later.

The heart of the matter

Well, WWE India took to Twitter to hint at the next pairing...

Now, this could just be a little teaser to see how the fans reacted, but the response was overwhelming, with two particular comments standing out from the rest...

Could Becky Lynch be joining the Yep Movement for this exciting competition? I guess we'll need to wait and see.

The pair have been on TV together, albeit briefly, and it was met with a very positive response.

What’s next?

Well, WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge airs from January 16th (immediately after SmackDown Live) and will feature multiple male-female teams competing against one another for a chance to win $100,000 for a charity of their choice.

With the start date so imminent, you'd have to think the rest of the teams could be confirmed pretty quickly, so there's a very good chance we could see Sami and Becky paired up! Or it could be a complete swerve, much like the Nia and Braun tease was, that instead sees Braun paired with Alexa Bliss and Nia tagging with Titus Worldwide's Apollo Crews.

Author’s take

Some of the teams paired for this series already are making it seem like one of those niche, never-before-seen tournaments that will be a definite must-watch for all WWE fans, and the pairing of Sami and Becky definitely adds to that.

These two are huge fan favourites (even with Zayn's recent heel turn) and the WWE Universe is always clamouring for more to be done with both. You never know, they could be the ultimate underdogs of the competition...
