The Heist of the Century!

The Money in the Bank briefcase has been one of the best innovations in the WWE. Many superstars have used their Money in the Bank contracts to successfully capture the championship belt over the years. It is because of this that the briefcase has started to symbolize an almost guaranteed world title.

It is not only the WWE superstars who have benefited from this concept. The entire WWE Universe has been treated to some shocking and unforgettable moments where a superstar cashes in his Money in the Bank contract at the most unexpected time. It has ensured that there is never a dull moment as the holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase is always lurking around and waiting.

While there have been a lot of unforgettable cash-ins there are five which really do stand out. After Edge cashed in his briefcase against John Cena successfully in 2006 there have been many more moments when a champion saw their title being snatched away from them in the blink of an eye.

Here is a list of 5 such Money in the Bank cash-ins which left audiences shocked and amazed.

#1 CM Punk cashes in on Edge

CM Punk gave Edge a taste of his own medicine

This was perhaps a bit of karma for the Rated-R Superstar.

Edge had been involved in a feud with Batista during 2008 which saw The Ultimate Opportunist walking away with the title. Naturally, Edge was happy to rub the title in Batista's face only to have The Animal come down to the ring and deliver a beating to the superstar.

As Edge lay broken and beaten in the ring, CM Punk's music hit and the WWE Universe saw Punk cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on a beaten down Edge. The entire WWE Universe would then watch as CM Punk pinned Edge in the middle of the ring to win the title.

This was one of the most memorable cash-ins of all time as the unsuspecting victim of the cash in was none other than The Ultimate Opportunist himself. It also marked the moment when CM Punk's rise within the WWE would begin, which makes this cash in even more significant.

#2 Kane cashes in on Rey Mysterio

Kane cashed in his briefcase on the same night he won it

Kane won the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2010 at the Money in the Bank PPV and wasted no time in making good use of it. Rey Mysterio had a title defense against Jack Swagger later that night and many fans were under the impression that Swagger would capture the title.

There was always going to be a bit of uncertainty as to whether Swagger or Mysterio would walk out of Money in the Bank 2010 with the title. Both superstars were receiving a push and Swagger looked to be lined up to dethrone Mysterio.

It would be Mysterio who would pick up the win but he would not leave the arena with the title. Just moments after the match ended, Kane made his way down to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract.

Kane would then go on to tombstone Mysterio to win the title.

#3 Edge cashes in on John Cena

Edge shocked the world when he ashed in on John Cena

The concept of the Money in the Bank briefcase was still relatively new back in 2006. All that was known about the briefcase was that it contained a contract to a title match anywhere, anytime. Edge took that literally and his cash in would set the tone for future cash ins.

At New Year's Revolution 2006, John Cena successfully defended his title in a gruesome Elimination Chamber match against five other superstars. As Cena lay bruised and bloodied in the ring, Vince McMahon would come out to congratulate him on surviving the Elimination Chamber match and retaining his title.

Vince would then burst Cena's bubble by announcing that Edge wished to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and that the match would take place right here, right now. This would prove to be too much for Cena and a spear later saw Edge win the title in one of the most shocking title matches in WWE history.

#4 Dean Ambrose cashes in on Seth Rollins

Ambrose wasted no time cashing in his briefcase

Dean Ambrose provided us with one of the most unexpected and exciting Money in the Bank cash-ins in WWE history. Ambrose won the Money in the Bank contract at Money in the Bank 2016 - an event which saw a returning Seth Rollins face Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Rollins would go on to defeat Reigns for the title and reclaim the gold which he was forced to give up due to injury. His celebration would be short-lived as Ambrose would attack Rollins with the briefcase, cash it in and then pin him for the title.

This was one of the most dramatic cash-ins ever and gave the WWE Universe a moment in which all three members of The Shield held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the same night.

#5 Seth Rollins cashes in at WrestleMania 31

Rollins pulled off the heist of the century

There are so many things which make this cash in one of the most memorable cash-ins of all time. No one could have predicted that we would see Rollins walking out with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after he suffered a loss to Randy Orton earlier that night.

The main event saw Roman Reigns facing Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The entire WWE Universe had expected Reigns to defeat Lesnar and walk out with the title and made no secret about their displeasure about this during the match.

In an unexpected twist, Rollins would come running to the ring to turn the match into a triple threat. Reigns was hit with the curb stomp by Rollins to see The Architect win the title in what would be remembered as the heist of the century.

#6 Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler had a memorable cash in against Alberto del Rio

The Raw after WrestleMania has always been an exciting show and Dolph Ziggler ensured that the Raw after WrestleMania 29 will be remembered for a long time. It was on this night that Ziggler would begin his transition to the main event as he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase against Alberto del Rio to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

Del Rio had been in a match with Jack Swagger and was nursing a leg injury after the match. This provided Ziggler with the perfect opportunity to cash in his briefcase - and he did just that.

Del Rio did manage to lock Ziggler into a cross arm breaker submission but in the end, it would be Ziggler who would be victorious.
