WWE live event results: Norfolk, 10/12/16

Ambrose was put through the table with an old school table slam

The SmackDown Live! Roster stopped over in Norfolk, Virginia and put on a great show for the fans in attendance. Despite the absence of Randy Orton and AJ Styles – who missed the house show for unspecified reasons, the event ended up being a solid showcase of wrestling with a surprise match of the night.

Dean Ambrose went up against a former rival; Dolph Ziggler faced a tricky opponent and a WWE superstar lost twice at the eventful show. So here are the results and highlights of the live event in Norfolk, Virginia:


#1 Rhyno and Heath Slater vs. Breezango

The first bout of the night saw the former SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions go up against Tyler Breeze and Fandango in a bid to shake off their loss at TLC and the recent episode of SmackDown Live.

The match ended in predictable fashion as Rhyno delivered the Gore on Tyler Breeze and picked up the win for his win.

Result: Rhyno and Heath Slater def. Tyler Breeze and Fandango via pinfall


#2 Baron Corbin vs. Kalisto

The David vs. Goliath feud may be over on TV, but the two continue to face each other on the live event circuit. The Lone Wolf continued his dominance over the Luchador by picking up another win. He finished off the former United States Champion with the End of Days.

The match was said to be quite good with Corbin generating the necessary heat.

A promo hyping up Dolph Ziggler’s match against Luke Harper aired next.


#3 Apollo Crews vs. Curt Hawkins

A match that on one seemed to care about was up next. Apollo Crews made quick work of Curt Hawkins by dispatching him in no time. The fans were completely dead for this match and were least interested in the action that unfolded inside the squared circle.

Result: Apollo Crews def. Curt Hawkins via pinfall


#4 Curt Hawkins vs. Jack Swagger

Curt Hawkins was livid over his loss and took to the mic to cut a promo. He claimed he was robbed and asked for another superstar to come out to face. Jack Swagger obliged and came out to beat the superstar in under fifteen minutes. Hawkins was forced to tap out to the Patriot Lock, thus ending another disappointing night for him.

Result: Jack Swagger def. Curt Hawkins via submission

#5 Dolph Ziggler vs. Luke Harper

The battle between the two former Intercontinental Champions was so good that it was arguably the match of the night. Both men gave it all to satiate the fans’ hunger for some top notch wrestling. The fans in Norfolk were hot for babyface Ziggler all throughout the match.

In the end, The Show Off picked up the win with the help of the Zig Zag that was set up with a superkick. The action didn’t end there are am innocent Santa Claus, who was standing on the ramp, was super kicked by Ziggler as he made his way backstage.

#6 American Alpha and The Hype Bros vs. The Vaudevillians and Ascension (8-man tag team match)

A solid 8-man tag team match followed the match of the night pitting the babyfaces of the tag team division against the heels. The match was quite good that ended with the faces prevailing over the heels.

Result: American Alpha and The Hype Bros def. The Vaudevillians and Ascension


#7 Alexa Bliss (C) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Carmella vs. Natalya (Fatal 4-way match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship)

Alexa Bliss put her newly won strap on the line against four other talented women on the roster. Former champion Becky Lynch, Carmella and Natalya had a crack at the title, but no to avail. Bliss retained the championship successfully after putting on a solid match with some really fun spots.

Becky was quite over with the fans in attendance.

Result: Alexa Bliss def. Becky Lynch, Carmella and Natalya via pinfall to retain the SmackDown Women’s Title


#8 Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt (Norfolk street fight)

The Lunatic Fringe and SmackDown Tag Team Champion Bray Wyatt know each other all too well. Their previous outings have been solid affairs, and this one was no different. The entertaining bout saw interference from Luke Harper and James Ellsworth.

The match was chaotic and ended with Ambrose winning with the help of a Dirty Deeds and Kendo Stick shots. An impressive end to a memorable show for the Norfolk fans.
