Styles defended in a Best of 3 Falls match

The latest SmackDown exclusive live event took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The results of the show have been provided below:

#1 American Alphas (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable) and Kane vs. Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Randy Orton

This was a decent tag team contest to start the event. The Alphas were involved for the majority part of the match. Ultimately, Kane choke slammed Harper to get the victory for his team.

Result: American Alphas and Kane defeated Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Randy Orton

#2 Curt Hawkins vs. Jack Swagger

Another short match involving Hawkins graced house shows. Swagger forced him to submit to the Patriot Lock to continue Hawkin’s miserable run.

Result: Jack Swagger defeated Curt Hawkins

#3 The Usos vs. Breezango vs. Heath Slater and Rhyno(c) [Triple Threat match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship]

Slater and Rhyno received massive pops from the audience. The match was a back and forth contest, with some fun spots which ended in a destructive Gore to Viktor. The champions retained the title successfully.

Result: Rhyno and Heath Slater defeated The Usos and Breezango to retain the titles

#4 Dolph Ziggler(c) vs. The Miz [Intercontinental Championship match]

The two delivered an incredible match as always. There were several attempts of interference from Maryse to turn the match in favour of the Miz. Despite the distractions, Ziggler picked up the victory after a Superkick to the former champion.

Results: Dolph Ziggler retained the Intercontinental Championship

#5 The Hyper Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley) vs. The Ascension (Konor and Victor)

The short and crisp match ended with Ryder getting the win for his team against the heels.

Result: Hype Bros defeated Breezango

#6 Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin

This match was another brief contest between the Lone Wolf and the former United States Champion. Corbin had dominated the entire match before the End of Days on Kalisto allowed him to pick up the victory.

Result: Baron Corbin defeated Kalisto

#7 AJ Styles(c) vs. Dean Ambrose [2 out of 3 Falls match for the WWE World Championship]

This was the match of the night without a doubt. The audience were vocal throughout the contest in which Styles got the first fall after a Phenomenal Forearm. Ambrose went on to get the second fall courtesy of the Dirty Deeds. Finally, a Styles Clash on the Lunatic Fringe helped him to retain the gold.

Result: AJ Styles defeated Dean Ambrose [2-1] and retained the WWE World Championship

Points to Note:

– Despite back to back shows, the arena was packed with wrestling fans

– No women’s division match took place due to restrictions of the Saudi Arabia culture
