WWE Main Event, 25th September - Results

Big Show

Big Show

Unlike previous shows, Main Event this week boasted of big names in the match card. Though the event only has three matches and runs for an hour, it does bring out great matches. The same thing happened this week as we had names such as Big Show and Curtis Axel fighting in matches.

Here are the matches and their respective results.

1. The Usos vs Big E Langston & Fandango

The Usos took on a very unlikely pair of Big E Langston and Fandango. The mismatch between their opponents was visible as Big E and Fandango had no connection whatsoever. They failed to play as a team and this clearly led to their demise in the match.

The Usos are the hottest tag team in WWE at the moment and they are rising to the top of the ladder pretty fast. After impressive showing on RAW last night, The Usos now continued their winning streak against Big E and Fandango. They picked up the win after hitting the diving splash on Fandango.

It was great to see Big E in a match after such a long time as it has been more than two months since he made any appearance at all. Despite the loss it would be great to see him make more appearances in RAW and SmackDown. Fandango however has been experiencing a downward spiral for quite sometime now with no signs of any improvement.

Winner: The Usos

2. Big Show vs Damien Sandow

Main event matches are always never connected to storylines running on RAW or SmackDown. The same continued here when Show faced the Money in the Bank briefcase holder Damien Sandow. Big Show showed no hesitation in knocking out the Miz on RAW last night and the same happened here as he knocked the Intellectual Savior of Masses with his huge fist.

Damien Sandow has been crawling in the bottom most pit of WWE ever since he won the briefcase. It has been a woeful time for the Duke of Decency who has only won three matches since he won the briefcase. While the case has always been a bad luck for the holder, Sandow perhaps is the only wrestler who has faced the maximum brunt of it.

Big Show however has nothing to gain or lose from this loss. He has always been a dominant wrestler and there was no way one could expect him to lose to Sandow.

Winner: Big Show

3. Curtis Axel vs Justin Gabriel

The Intercontinental Champion looked strong in his win against Justin Gabriel on the show’s main event. Though a win for Gabriel could have spelled a revival in his career in WWE, there was very little chances of that happening against Curtis Axel. He got the victory after hitting his finisher which I always feel should have been the perfectplex.

Justin Gabriel has received a lot of TV time lately. He has been actively involved as an unnoticed member of the rebellion against Triple H‘s regime. He along with Zack Ryder who where pretty much written off of TV shows made a return and are enjoying some much needed exposure. Hopefully this trend continues and we get to see both he and Ryder getting a decent feud to work on. This is where WWE can benefit greatly by introducing the Cruiserweight title.

Curtis Axel on the other hand has been a very confusing champion to say the least. He has hardly made any impression as the Intercontinental Champion and a part of the blame has to go to WWE. However, even in his bout against feud with the support of Paul Heyman on his side, Axel hasn’t flourished. He has remained average or slightly above which is something he and WWE creative needs to worry about.

Winner: Curtis Axel
