AJ Styles and Omos defend their RAW Tag Team Championships on PPV for the first time

WWE's first pay-per-view outside of the ThunderDome takes place on Sunday night, live from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Money in the Bank is already gearing up to be one of the company's biggest shows of the year, with several surprises expected. As ever, the event will boast two traditional namesake contract ladder matches which will crown Mr and Miss Money in the Bank for the rest of the year.

The WWE and Universal Championships will also be defended alongside the RAW Women's Championship and the RAW Tag Team Championships.

Ahead of the show, here are just five facts and stats that every WWE fan needs to know.

#5. Viking Raider's first shot at the RAW Tag Team Championships on WWE pay-per-view

The Viking Raiders were promoted to WWE's main roster in 2019 and are former RAW Tag Team Champions in their own right. The duo were able to win the Championships on an episode of Monday Night RAW in October 2019, before dropping them to Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy on RAW just 98 days later.

Survivor Series was the only pay-per-view that Erik and Ivar were part of and their RAW Tag Team Championships were not on the line as they battled for brand supremacy in a triple threat tag team match.

The former NXT Tag Team Champions were set to battle for the RAW Tag Team Championships at Backlash last year, but this match never got underway after a brawl backstage between The Street Profits, Akira Tozawa, and his ninjas. This match later took place on an episode of RAW instead and The Viking Raiders came up short to The Street Profits, who were champions at the time.

Ivar then suffered a neck injury in September which kept him sidelined for seven months, with Erik also being written off TV. Following surgery, the duo are now looking to get back into the title picture following his return.

This weekend's Championship match will be the first time the duo have challenged for the RAW Tag Team Championships in a traditional tag team match on pay-per-view. This is a surprise since the two men have been on WWE's main roster now for almost two years.

#4. There's a 50 percent chance that the WWE Women's Money in the Bank contract will be cashed in on the same night

The Women's Money in the Bank ladder match has been an annual match in WWE since 2017. Over the past four years, three winners have all cashed in their contracts successfully, with Asuka technically winning the Championship when she won the ladder match.

Carmella held on to her contract for almost a year before cashing in on Charlotte Flair and becoming the SmackDown Women's Champion for the first time.

Alexa Bliss won the contract in 2018 and cashed in on the same night as part of Nia Jax's match against Ronda Rousey to become RAW Women's Champion.

Bayley later won the Money in the Bank ladder match and cashed in on the same night, pinning Charlotte Flair to become SmackDown Women's Champion.

That means it's likely that the woman who wins the ladder match will cash in on the same night and once again Charlotte Flair could be the victim.

Flair faces Rhea Ripley for the RAW Women's Championship at WWE Money in the Bank and will be hoping that the match takes place before the traditional women's ladder match.

#3. First PPV Championship defense for WWE RAW Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Omos

AJ Styles and Omos were able to surprisingly capture the RAW Tag Team Championships at WWE's WrestleMania event in April when they defeated The New Day.

Omos and Styles later went missing for several weeks following WrestleMania, but have since defended their Championships a number of times on Monday Night RAW. Interestingly though, there have been two pay-per-views since WrestleMania and the RAW Tag Team Championships have not been defended on either.

Styles and Omos were seemingly both omitted from WrestleMania Backlash and Hell in a Cell, before finally being able to defend their Championships at Money in the Bank.

Instead, AJ Styles and Omos will walk into their first pay-per-view Championship defense this weekend at Money in the Bank when they take on former Champions The Viking Raiders.

This will also be the Viking Raiders' first shot at the Championships on pay-per-view, so it could be one of the matches of the night for both teams that definitely have a point to prove in WWE.

#2. First time in the history of the SmackDown Women's Championship that it hasn't been defended at WWE Money of the Bank

The SmackDown Women's Championship was unveiled in WWE at Backlash in 2016, where it was won by Becky Lynch. The Championship has since become the main title for the women on the blue brand and has been defended at every Money in the Bank pay-per-view since.

In 2017, Naomi and Lana battled it out for the Championship on the same night that the first-ever WWE Women's Money in the Bank ladder match took place.

In 2018, Money in the Bank winner from the previous year, Carmella successfully defended her Championship against Asuka.

The following year, Charlotte Flair was able to defeat Becky Lynch to win the SmackDown Women's Championship, before Bayley cashed in her contract.

Bayley was able to defeat Tamina as part of last year's Money in the Bank pay-per-view and was set to challenge for the Championship at this year's event.

Sadly, just a week before the show, Bayley was forced to pull out of the match after suffering an ACL tear. This means that for the first time in the history of the SmackDown Women's Championship it won't be defended at WWE Money in the Bank.

#1. The first time Edge has challenged for a WWE World Championship in a singles match in more than a decade

Edge challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship on Sunday night as part of WWE's Money in the Bank pay-per-view. This will not only be Edge's first singles shot at the Universal Championship, but also his first singles match for a World Championship in WWE for more than a decade.

Of course, this fact looks much more daunting than it is because Edge retired from WWE back in 2011, when it was revealed that he was struggling with cervical spinal stenosis. The Rated R Superstar returned as part of last year's Royal Rumble before stepping into a feud with Randy Orton. The feud ended following Edge's injury at last year's Backlash before the former 11-time WWE Champion returned at this year's Royal Rumble.

Following his victory, Edge was denied a one-on-one match for the Championship at WrestleMania when Daniel Bryan was added to the match, meaning that Money in the Bank is his first shot.

This is the first time Edge has challenged for a Championship in WWE in a singles match since he faced off against Dolph Ziggler on SmackDown's 600th episode in February 2011.
