WWE Money in the Bank: 3 controversial things which should not have happened

What a wild night
What a wild night

WWE Money in the Bank has just been concluded, and what a crazy, crazy event it has been. From Champions like Seth Rollins and Kofi Kingston successfully defending their titles in hard-fought battles to new champions being crowned in the likes of Rey Mysterio and Bayley, this has been quite a night for the WWE Universe.

Yes, you read that right, if Bayley winning the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match was not enough, she further went on to cash-in in the same night to become the new SmackDown Women's Champion.

However, The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar making his shocking return to win the Men's MITB ladder match was certainly the highlight of the show. All in all, WWE certainly delivered onto the promise to put together a 5-star show for the masses.

Nonetheless, creative did make a few slip-ups or should I say, booking errors which have not only left the Internet divided but could also haunt the company in the long run.

And yes, in this article we are going to discuss the 3 controversial decisions which should not have happened at Money in the Bank.

#3 Shane McMahon picking up a win against The Miz

The Miz faced Shane McMahon in a steel cage match at Money in the Bank and in spite of dominating the match for the most part, victory slipped through his fingers, quite literally.

While The Miz was thinking of suplexing Shane from the top of the steel cage, Shane slipped through his shirt to land onto the ground to escape with a win.

It was speculated that the current feud between The Miz and Shane McMahon would eventually end at Money in the Bank, and rightfully so. The rivalry between the duo has been the talk of the town ever since March 2019. However, WWE chose otherwise. To be honest, handing Shane another win to prolong the feud may turn out to be a bad move by the WWE.

WWE had the golden opportunity to launch The Miz in the bigger picture given the fire and momentum that he currently has behind his back. However, prolonging the feud against Shane may not only prove to be underwhelming but could also end up undermining the host of Miz TV.

#2 Seth Rollins and AJ Styles is a one-off thing

Ever since WWE announced Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles for Money in the Bank, fans began speculating about the potential endings, swerves and surprises WWE could be planning for this epic clash. However, against all expectations, it seems it was justt a one-off thing between the duo.

Yes, Seth Rollins managed to defeat AJ Styles clean in a hard-fought match, and the duo even went on to congratulate each other by shaking hands after the finish of their match. Thus, given the clean victory and how things unfolded, it is all but certain that AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins is done and dusted, at least for the time being.

While the match was epic, the build-up leading to it was just the opposite. What could have been a record-breaking feud turned out to be a damp squib, and with WWE officially concluding it last night, it just does not seem right.

The duo deserved a long and intense feud involving some gripping story-telling and it was expected that their feud would take a drastic turn after May 19. however, WWE chose otherwise and decided to conclude the feud abruptly.

#1 Brock Lesnar winning the Men's Money in the Bank ladder match

No one saw this coming

If anyone says that they saw this one coming, they would certainly be lying. I mean, who would have thought that The Beast Incarnate of all the people would become the new Mr. Money in the Bank?

Yes, you read that right; Brock Lesnar took out Sami Zayn earlier in the night and later went on to replace him in the men's MITB ladder match to win the briefcase. While WWE deserves a lot of credit for how they executed the whole thing, it might not prove to be the best idea in the long run.

Money in the Bank acts as the launchpad to catapult new and talented rookies into the main event scene, but WWE having a part-timer win it has certainly raised a lot of eyebrows.

Sure, it has created a lot of buzz and grabbed a lot of eyeballs. As a matter of fact, the Internet has gone into a frenzy thanks to this recent development. However, this decision may haunt WWE in the long run.

Not only because Lesnar is a part-timer and could return to UFC anytime for a rumoured match against Daniel Cormier, but also because WWE lost the golden opportunity to launch a few much-deserved names in the title picture via the briefcase.
