What's the story?

Following WWE and Enzo Amore coming to terms with the current Cruiserweight Champion's release, there is a void in the top spot of 205 LIVE, which Daniel Bryan addressed at the start of the most recent 205 LIVE by making a huge announcement.

Next week, 205 LIVE will get a new General Manager, and that individual who will address the title situation.

In case you didn't know...

Just before the RAW 25th Anniversary episode allegations were made by a woman via social media alleging that Enzo Amore had sexually assaulted her last year. Amore was suspended fairly swiftly, and then was released by WWE the following day leaving them without a Cruiserweight Champion. Amore strongly denies the allegations raised against him, but a police investigation is ongoing.

The heart of the matter

The WWE announced that SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan was going to address the title picture on the go-home 205 LIVE for the Royal Rumble, especially with Cedric Alexander due to wrestle Amore for the title at the Pay-Per-View. However, Bryan made a very unexpected announcement.

Bryan announces that a brand-new role is being introduced, a 205 LIVE General Manager, and that the man, or woman, will be addressing the Cruiserweights and their vacant title on next week's 205 LIVE.

What's next?

This all but certainly means that there won't be a Cruiserweight Title match at the Royal Rumble, which has got be be gutting for Cedric Alexander who has had several previous opportunities at the strap taken away from him due to to circumstances beyond his control, and now he probably won't even be wrestling at all at the PPV.

Author's take

A new WWE authority figure just for the 205 LIVE Superstars is an intriguing and promising prospect, but who could it be? Well, if I recall a certain Bella Twin wanted to be SmackDown LIVE General Manager didn't she? This is sort of the next best thing!
