WWE News: AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura tease huge WrestleMania match
Will we see The Phenomenal One vs The King Of Strong Style at WrestleMania 34?
What's the story?
AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura recently threw down a huge tease for a match everybody's been dreaming to see on WWE television. Let's just say Styles' challenge certainly seemed to be an agreeable notion to The King Of Strong Style.
In case you didn't know...
Fans have wanted to see AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura since the two jumped over from New Japan at around the same time. Of course, Styles went straight to the WWE main roster after debuting in surprising fashion at the 2016 Royal Rumble as the third entry. Shinsuke Nakamura would go to NXT where he held down the top of the roster as NXT Champion for a few months in total.
But now that both of these Superstars are on SmackDown Live at the same time, fans are hoping for a Wrestle Kingdom 10 rematch on a WWE stage. From the looks of things that contest might happen at WrestleMania, the only WWE stage really suitable for housing a match of that calibre.
The heart of the matter
AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura were working with Jinder Mahal in a triple threat match during WWE's European tour. Styles came down with his title on every occasion, but on the final night of the tour, The Phenomenal One issued a rather interesting challenge.
After the match was over, Styles and Nakamura were left in the ring staring each other down. The WWE World Champion laid his title down in between them and said a WrestleMania match between the two of them would be "too sweet." It's a great thing AJ Styles is employed by WWE so he can still say "too sweet" unlike some of his Bullet Club brethren they seem to be shackled by what vernacular they can draw from.
The crowd in Italy seemed to be more than ready to see Styles vs Nakamura as the chanted "WrestleMania" in the direction of the two top Superstars. It was a very special moment and a great way to end the tour by looking ahead to the possible future.
If New Japan is going to give pro wrestling fans Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega in 2018, then WWE really needs to deliver AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura and give these two as much time on the card as possible. If this match were made a reality as part of the Show Of Shows it would give wrestling fans of all types a great reason to tune in.
AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania will hopefully give fans a chance to see a side of Nakamura, unlike anything they've seen before. Some people have wondered if Nakamura has been holding back since emerging on the main roster. But he would need to bring everything he has to New Orleans in a battle with AJ Styles because The Phenomenal One will certainly do anything it takes in order to keep his WWE Championship.
