WWE News: AJ Styles claims Daniel Bryan's return reminded him of Shawn Michaels' comeback

WWE Champion AJ Styles was recently a guest on The Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast and during the conversation, Styles spoke about Daniel Bryan’s return to the wrestling ring and why it reminds him of Shawn Michaels.

In case you didn’t know…

As noted, earlier in the month of March, WWE doctors finally decided to medically clear the former four-time WWE World Champion Daniel Bryan and thus, allowing him to compete and wrestle in the ring for the first time in almost two and a half years.

Bryan’s return to in-ring competition has certainly opened up the possibility of many potential dream matches within the WWE that we the fans could witness within the next few years and one of the potential matches is certainly going to be another rematch against WWE Champion AJ Styles.

The heart of the matter

According to Styles, he claimed that the fact that Daniel Bryan finally got the green light from WWE doctors to make his official return to the ring is definitely awesome and ‘The American Dragon’s’ return to the squared circle also reminded Styles of the time when Shawn Michaels made his return to in-ring competition back in the day. "Selfishly, I was hoping he [Bryan] would have gotten cleared before. Did I expect him to be cleared? No, but the fact that he did is awesome. Reminded me of when Shawn Michaels came back. I remember just praying for him to not get hurt because you just never know, and then he goes out and becomes Shawn Michaels. I feel like I am in the best run of my career as well."

As noted, AJ’s quote is pretty much certain about the fact that he is currently willing to face-off against Daniel Bryan once again on WWE TV and this time in a proper one-on-one match, without any sort of outside interference.

What’s next?

AJ Styles will defend the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura at this year’s Backlash PPV, later this month in a No DQ match.
