WWE News: AJ Styles comments on John Cena's triple threat match idea

Just as p
The idea was just as popular with Styles as it was with the Raw crowd.

What’s the story?

John Cena appeared on this past Monday's episode of Raw to hype this Sunday's WWE Smackdown pay-per-view - the final single branded pay-per-view - WWE Fastlane, in particular his six-pack WWE Championship main event match. Cena promised he would win that match, and at WrestleMania, it would be a triple threat with Styles, Nakamura and himself at WrestleMania.

In case you didn’t know...

Plans for John Cena at WrestleMania have seemed to be up and down over the past few months: he has been rumored for a match with Jinder Mahal, which would have been for the WWE Championship; a one-on-one match with AJ Styles; a different championship match; a singles bout against Samoa Joe; a match against the returning Rey Mysterio; and most expectedly, a match with The Undertaker.

As of writing, The Undertaker is still believed to be his opponent in New Orleans.

The heart of the matter

During his appearance on Raw, John Cena vowed to win the six-pack challenge at Fastlane and become a record breaking 17 time WWE Champion. He told Styles to cash in his rematch clause at WrestleMania to make it a triple threat with Nakamura and himself.

Styles was a guest on Busted Open today with David LaGreca and Mark Henry, and spoke on a number of topics, including the triple threat pitched by Cena. Styles responded with:

"I guess John Cena was on Raw last night saying that he's going to win [at Fastlane] and I should invoke my rematch clause at WrestleMania so that it can be a three-way between myself, Nakamura and John Cena," Styles said. "Well I don't want to do that. I don't want to lose this match coming up at Fastlane. I want Nakamura all to myself."

What’s next?

WWE Fastlane takes place this Sunday 11 March at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Author’s take

I would love to see AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and John Cena in a triple threat match for the WWE Championship for sure, just not at WrestleMania; that belongs to solely Styles and Nakamura. The triple threat would be a great match to happen at one of the following pay-per-views.
