Styles appeared in high spirits backstage and cut a promo on Brock Lesnar; likening the matchup to David vs Goliath.
In case you didn’t know…
AJ Styles shockingly defeated Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship a few days ago, and is now set to represent the SmackDown brand against Lesnar at Survivor Series.
On that note, for those unaware, the story of a feared giant named Goliath facing a young man called David has been briefly summarized below—
Goliath was formidable in strength and ruthlessness, while David was a much smaller man only armed with a stone and slingshot. However, David successfully used his rudimentary weapons to hit the giant right in the middle of his forehead with the stone, following which Goliath fell to the ground and David beheaded him for the victory.
The heart of the matter
AJ Styles asserted his satisfaction at the WWE’s successful 2017 European Tour; besides expressing his delight at winning and defending the WWE Championship.
Furthermore, Styles spoke about the David vs Goliath factor in his showdown with Brock Lesnar; stating—
“I know what you’re (fans are) thinking, ‘AJ can’t beat him (Lesnar)’, ‘he’s a Beast; he’s a giant’. Well, you know there was this one guy who had a slingshot and a stone.”
“And I have a ring that I’m gonna slingshot myself (from) into victory. I’m gonna take it to Brock Lesnar, and that’s how the story will end.”
