WWE Superstar AJ Styles recently spoke with Cathy Kelley for WWE Now, and opened up on the reason why he thought it was better for him to come up directly to the main roster, back in 2016 when he made his WWE debut. Styles stated that he wasn't a young guy at the time and thus it made sense for him to appear directly on the main roster, but added that he sometimes feels jealousy towards the ones who have gone through NXT.

AJ Styles had always been one of the biggest Superstars in the world who weren't a part of WWE. The unthinkable happened at the Royal Rumble 2016, when Styles entered in as the #3 entrant in the Royal Rumble Match, sending the arena into a frenzy. It has been over three years since Styles made his big debut in WWE, and the company has made it a point to use him incredibly well. Styles had an epic rivalry with John Cena, and went on to win the WWE Championship on two separate occasions. He is currently one of the biggest heels on the Raw brand.

While talking about his WWE debut, Styles said that going through NXT wasn't an option for him and also explained why he gets jealous of the wrestlers who have been in NXT.

I wasn’t the youngest guy, going through NXT was not going to be an option unless you’re talking about a month just to get used to everything and learn how WWE works. Literally, everything worked out the way I needed it to.
Sometimes, I’m very jealous of the people who went through NXT because they know each other so well. Time is of the essence for me to get to the main roster and do what I do.

Styles will certainly go down as one of the biggest WWE Superstars of all time, after what he has managed to accomplish in such a short period of time. His heel turn and the reformation of The Club, now known as The OC has given rise to a string of interesting possibilities.
