WWE News: Alberto Del Rio stabbed

Del Rio was assaulted after eating at a restaurant.

Alberto Del Rio posted a graphic photo on instagram with the following statement:

Mr. Rodriguez ("Alberto El Patron") shortly after eating a meal before his flight was assaulted by a criminal with a knife outside the restaurant. Mr. Rodriguez suffered multiple lacerations on his arm and other parts of his body defending against the criminal as Police were called by witnesses. Mr. Rodriguez received medical attention and went back to the Police Department and was unable to make his flight. Mr. Rodriguez has spoken with the ownership of Lucha Libre AAA World Wide and given them documentation of the incident. Mr. Rodriguez greatly regrets not being there yesterday for his fans in Mexico and promises to everyone he will make this up as soon as possible. Despite the graphic lacerations Mr. Rodriguez will not miss any of his shows for the remainder of the year and is ready to compete this weekend in the UK. “This was the reason why he did not show up as advertised for AAA’s Heroes Immortales event. He was scheduled to be in the main event but no-showed. AAA then issued a statement expressing their frustration towards Del Rio while putting out a more professional statement. However, at the time, even they were clueless as to what the circumstances were. It is highly possible that now AAA will have to put out an apology statement.

As noted in the statement, Del Rio will still continue to perform as soon as this weekend, when he returns to the UK for the second time in a few weeks. He had gone to the UK to perform for WhatCulture Pro Wrestling and also for World Association of Wrestling, the latter of which is run by Paige’s parents.

We are yet to know the full details of the assault that took place against Del Rio such as the identity of the criminals, the motive behind the assault, and more. However, it is an unfortunate situation that happened that affected Del Rio, his family, and AAA as well. There were rumors that Del Rio was in Orlando yesterday, implying a possible appearance at TNA in Bound For Glory. However, that has clearly been debunked. We at Sportskeeda would like to wish Alberto Del Rio a speedy recovery. For latest WWE News, spoilers and rumours visit our Sportskeeda WWE section.
