What's the story?

Scott Fishman of the Miami Herald recently spoke with WWE Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss during the promotion of the video game WWE 2K18's release on the Nintendo Switch. During the interview, they talked about the return of Paige and debuts of Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville as the group collectively known as Absolution.

In case you didn't know...

On the November 20th edition of Monday Night Raw, Paige would make a surprise return during a fatal-4-way to determine the number one contender for Bliss' title. Paige told the ladies in the ring that she didn't come alone, and through the crowd came Rose and Deville to attack, signifying their main roster debut.

Later that night there was a backstage segment where Paige introduced her two new friends to Alexa before they attacked her. In the two weeks following, Absolution has continued to dominate the Women's Division.

The heart of the matter

When asked about the three new faces on Raw, Bliss said that she was really excited to have women returning and women coming up to the main roster. She stated that the division needed it and it can only help the ongoing revolution of women's wrestling in the WWE.

Bliss would further expand on the boost these women will provide with the quote below:

"There is no bad that can come of it because WWE is good about evolving and bringing in new talent. That's our source. To have people coming in and returning, it's great."

Alexa understands this very well as she came from NXT via the WWE Draft in July of 2016, and has taken the Women's Division by storm ever since. She stated that she's only had a few matches with Paige in NXT and some WWE Live events, and is very excited to clash with her on the main roster.

What's next?

With Absolution attacking the number one contender's match two weeks ago, it still leaves Bliss without a challenger for her championship. As we approach the Royal Rumble on January 28th, the picture should get clearer; whether the challenger is Paige, Asuka, Sasha Banks or someone else.

Author's take

I definitely agree with Alexa here, I've been very excited for Absolution as well. They have done a great job creating an imposing force within the Women's Division that hasn't been seen in a long time. It's really reminiscent of The Shield when they debuted in 2012.

The job Alexa has done since coming to the main roster is nothing short of amazing as well. The future of the Women's Division is in great hands.
