What's the story?

Baron Corbin retained the United States title after AJ Styles used in his rematch clause on this week's Raw. The victory was decisive, and it seemed like "The Lone Wolf" will move on to a newer feud following the match.

In case you didn't know...

Baron Corbin won the United States Championship in a Triple Threat match at Hell in a Cell.

Tye Dillinger was added to the match at the last minute by Smackdown Live general manager, Daniel Bryan, but it was Corbin who emerged victorious as he took advantage of Dillinger's inclusion to pick up an opportunistic win.

The heart of the matter

Corbin faced AJ Styles in a match for the United States Championship in the main event of Smackdown Live and was able to retain his title. AJ looked good in the match till a point, when Corbin slammed him on the outside.

The Phenomenal One tweaked his knee as well, as he gave Corbin the advantage after the Ushigoroshi for a near fall.

After Styles' knee got hurt, Corbin capitalised on it and hit him with a Deep Six. Corbin slammed AJ on the floor outside and followed it up with an End of Days inside the ring to end the match.

Corbin stood tall after the match and addressed the audience. He informed them that he was the United States Champion and the audience could look at the championship and 'eat it'.

The ending of the match was decisive, and this may mean that Corbin and Styles will not continue their feud, and both will move on to other things.

What's next?

Corbin will possibly move onto a new feud which will most likely be against Tye Dillinger, due to the 'Perfect Ten' star's involvement in the feud.

AJ Styles, on the other hand, may be involved in the Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon feud after he hinted on the Talking Smack following Hell in a Cell that he would have Shane's back.

Author's take

The match between Corbin and Styles was fantastic with both the stars putting on a good performance. The decisive win for Corbin was unexpected but added to the match.

The post-match promo left a lot to be desired though, as it is evident that Corbin has yet to perfect his mike skills.
