WWE News: Baron Corbin wins at the 2016 Revolver Awards

Corbin joined elite company by winning the award

A few hours ago, WWE superstar Baron Corbin picked up the ‘Most Metal Athlete’ award at the 2016 Revolver Awards. The award function, which honours the best in hard rock and metal music, is organised every year by Revolver magazine and was held this time at Webster Hall in New York City.

Corbin was accompanied to the show by Corey Graves from the Raw commentary team. ‘The Lone Wolf’ tweeted a picture of himself and Graves entering the venue. Here’s what it said:

The 32-year old had been nominated for the award alongside Drew Stafford and Robin Lehner from the NHL (National Hockey League) and UFC superstars Matt Brown and Julianna Pëna. Corbin appeared to be quite excited after being announced the winner, as he posted a picture of himself with the trophy on Twitter stating:

However, this is certainly not the first time a WWE Superstar has been named the ‘Most Metal Athlete’ at the Revolver Awards. While former WWE champion CM Punk picked up the award in 2012, it was none other than Triple H who won it in the following year.

Apart from that, veteran superstar and Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho has hosted the award ceremony quite a few times and performed at it as well.

The WWE was quick to acknowledge Baron Corbin’s feat on their official website as their Twitter page and congratulated the talented Superstar. Revolver magazine, too, tweeted about Corbin’s victory at their annual award show.

‘The Lone Wolf’ has seen his stocks rise in recent times following his impressive wins over Kalisto in a ‘Chairs’ match at TLC and again on the following episode of SmackDown Live, possibly ending their rivalry. Here is the video of their match last Tuesday night:
