What's the story?
Bayley had some of the best times in her career while she was in NXT. During that time, she became NXT Women's Champion and now she can back at those amazing memories to cheer her up.
Bayley recently spoke to Metro UK and revealed why she enjoys watching her old NXT matches so much and how they help her to this day.
In case you didn't know...
When Bayley recently went down due to a separated shoulder it was awful timing. Of course, there's never a good time to get injured. But a few weeks before you challenge for a top title in WWE is never a good time to be placed on the injured list.
But Nia Jax still destroyed Bayley in that match and tossed her around like a little Bayley doll they sell at the merchandise stand. The punishment separated Bayley shoulder making it very hard to hug people for a bit.
The heart of the matter
While Bayley was out recuperating from her shoulder injury a lot happened in WWE. Not only did she have to recover from an injury, but she also had to show up on Raw and give up her title shot to a chorus of boos from the audience in attendance. Bayley wasn't ready for that one.
The Hugger also had to sit on the sidelines and watch Sasha Banks win the Raw Women's Championship at SummerSlam. It wouldn't have been an easy time for Bayley but she told Metro UK that she always had her old footage from NXT to help her in those hard times.
This sounds like I'm a loser but when I'm feeling down or I need a bit of motivation I do watch old NXT matches because they have some of my favorite memories as a performer in WWE.
I watch a lot of that to put me back on the right mindset – including my match with Nia Jax at NXT Takeover: London. She's the one I want to get back at, and I defeated her that night! That was a match I watched a few times."
What's next?
As time goes on, there might be more highs and lows in Bayley's career. But at least she will always have the fantastic memories she created in NXT. Thanks to the WWE Network, she can relive those moments at the click of a button.
Author's take
Bayley was once thought of as the "female John Cena" while she was doing her thing in NXT. There was a hope that she would jump to the main roster and tear it up.
The Hugger did have a nice run at the top, but some people think her first run with a top title on the main roster might have been a bit premature. Even now there's a possibility that Bayley could turn heel to freshen up her character. She's currently doing her best to succeed in the part WWE has given her.
She's doing her best, and if she keeps at it all of her hard work will eventually pay off. She's always been one of my favourites, then again how could you not like someone like Bayley?
