What's the story?

WWE Raw and SmackDown Live Women's Champion Becky Lynch recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated and opened up on her reaction to a friend's text about Charlotte vs Ronda possibly headlining WrestleMania 35.

Lynch stated that she was furious on not even being considered for the spot at that time.

In case you didn't know...

Becky Lynch turned heel on Charlotte Flair at last year's Summerslam, resulting in The Irish Lasskicker turning into The Man. The gimmick proved to be a hit with the fans, and this prompted WWE to heavily modify the original plans for WrestleMania 35's headline match.

Originally, the match was supposed to feature Charlotte Flair taking on Ronda Rousey for the Women's Title. The rumors had started floating around the moment WrestleMania 34 was done and dusted with. Charlotte had broken Asuka's 6-year streak at the event, while Rousey had made her thunderous WWE debut in a winning effort.

Becky Lynch was relegated to the pre-show in the first-ever WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal, which was won by Naomi.

The heart of the matter

Lynch shared an interesting story from last year's event while speaking with SI. She stated that she got a text message from a friend during the show, which read:

I heard it’s going to be Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey in the main event of WrestleMania next year.

Becky was furious on learning this and was incredibly upset at the fact that WWE didn't even consider her to be in the main event spot, one year down the line.

I thought to myself, ‘How dare you not even put me in consideration?’ Even though I was looked at as a mid-card player, I always viewed myself as a top star. I knew it was just a matter of breaking through, but I just had to figure out a way to do it.

What's next?

Becky Lynch is currently the top Superstar in the Women's division and will be pulling double duty at Money In The Bank, facing off against Charlotte and Lacey Evans in separate championship bouts.
