Brock Lesnar and John Cena have been advertised for upcoming WWE events

What’s the story?

Brock Lesnar and John Cena have been advertised for upcoming WWE events. The Beast Incarnate will reportedly be on the July 3rd episode of Monday Night RAW, whereas the Leader of the Cenation is scheduled to make an appearance on the July 4th episode of SmackDown Live.

In case you didn’t know...

Brock Lesnar hasn’t appeared on WWE’s main roster programming since making a brief post-Wrestlemania 33 appearance on RAW that involved him in a segment with Braun Strowman.

Meanwhile, John Cena has been fulfilling his movie-filming obligations as of late and last competed in WWE at Wrestlemania 33 teaming up with Nikki Bella to beat the Miz and Maryse. The 40-year old Superstar then proposed to Nikki on the grandest stage of them all and has since been on a hiatus from WWE.

The heart of the matter

The WWE has reportedly scheduled Brock Lesnar to appear at the go-home show for Great Balls of Fire, a pay-per-view at which the Beast will defend his WWE Universal championship against an opponent to be declared. Lesnar will be on RAW come July 3rd with the aforementioned PPV set to take place on July 9th.

On the other hand, John Cena is scheduled to make his WWE comeback on July 4th, although rumours are rife that the 16-time World champion may return before the Money In The Bank PPV that takes place on June 18th.

What’s next?

Brock Lesnar was initially to be booked against Braun Strowman at Great Balls of Fire, however, with the latter out owing to an elbow injury, the WWE are yet to find a suitable opponent for the Universal champion.

John Cena has been busy with his Hollywood shindigs and although he is expected to be done with his movie obligations by mid-June, his only confirmed WWE appearance is July 4th.

Author’s take

Brock Lesnar and John Cena are without a doubt the WWE’s brightest stars, and given the fact that the promotion’s ratings traditionally take a huge hit in the post-Mania season, the company needs its biggest attractions now more than ever.

The Beast Incarnate is a proven PPV attraction, be it professional wrestling or MMA, and as for Cena; love him or hate him, he is- The Face That Runs The Place!
